[edit] Other Wikis
No, I'm not an admin there, I joined that wiki on the 12th of October 2008, plus, I believe adminship there to be much harder than it is here, that wiki is in a whole other level, they have templates for just about any situation possible, they have written down guidelines, and while I consider myself capable of handling the information aspect of a wiki (like I do here), I'm not in the same league as they are when it comes to knowledge regarding the functioning of the wiki. They're so good they can take their doubts of the series with actors and writers sometimes, recently we got an email from an actress clarifying the name of a character who appeared in only one episode. I know about Bulbapedia, but I don't remember the last time I've been there, my Pokémon days are long gone now. Been to the YGO one sometimes, but the card game has become too complicated to be fun, at least for me, I'm keeping my cards so I can auction them to collectors in the future. I actually started Naruto because I couldn't get my Avatar fix in those ten long months between seasons two and three, I ended up getting another fix, and now I follow both the manga and the anime, I'm not a member of any forum, all of the ones that seem worth getting in have people who are just too stupid, if you ever want to watch it, I can give you a site which has all the 430 (and counting) manga chapters (or any other mainstream manga), and one for the 310 (and counting) episodes, just let me know if you start watching the episodes, there are LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of filler, if the Avatar series as it is was Naruto, 20 episodes would be the approximate amount of filler. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 22:09, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
- I believe the site you're referring to as having all 430 chapters of Naruto and counting is OneManga.com, isn't it?

[edit] Filing Cabinet Image
Thanks, I saw your comment on Avatar Wiki:Votes for Deletion, bu I didn't want to go off topic. I really like it with the little template thing I have on my talk page, and now on the VfD page too, I was considering adding it on all the pages. Feel free to copy it to your page as well. Thanks. Joey - Talk Contribs 10:18, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Archiving
(Sigh. I hate having to hammer something into someone. Why don't they just get it with soft words? Why do I have to do this?) I've already told you that the admin pages and the bureaucrat pages are none of your concern. Plus, about the archive of my talk page, its my choice whether to keep it at the format of others or different. This idea about the forum for admins is also unneeded. We have the talk page so why would we want the forum? What's the real difference besides the name? None. We'll decide the appropiateness of those pages, thank you very much. The Avatar Wiki:Votes for Deletion/Archive 1 is better at its current protection level. That will stop username vandals from messing it up. And since you or any other valid user will not be adding things to it anymore I don't see any reason to lower its protection. And I can't meddle in the pages of other admins, neither can any other admin or bureaucrat. So stop hounding me to do stuff that is outside my juristiction. On the other hand I'll see about the rest of the mentioned pages. I move protected most of them in the first place. BTW I'm not trying to be mean to you. I see potential in you. But you need to learn that everyone has his/her limits. Even we admins and even you.

[edit] Anime
I saw your comment on Omnibender's talk page, and I would like to suggest a site I've been on for a little while. DBZ-Zone has a lot of different Animes that are available to be watched for free, they are unlimited, and the quality is pretty good. Check it out, and tell me what you think, they even have all the Avatar episodes... Joey - Talk Contribs 12:23, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Re:Image Deletion
I deleted the images you asked me for, but I'd like to ask you not to correct spelling and add spaces on my talk page. When you did that after you left your edit, I only saw that change when I saw my Talk Page had been changed, so I didn't see that you'd left that message on my page until now. Please don't do that. Puragus Talk 07:36, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Re:Bot
That's my bot running, as to Zero's request. I'm sorry if it is flooding, but unless I get my bot account flagged, my edits won't become hidden. Joey - Talk Contribs 23:46, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Lovingazula
I have been on people's pages and read about a vandal12345 and vandal12345the2nd. Can't he just make another page like 'vandal12345the3rd' or something Lovingazula 16:56, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, that could most certainly happen. Also Lovingazula, I have to ask you that if you wish to contribute, please use proper grammar, punctuation, and formal wording (i.e. not ppl's, but peoples'). --Energybender 17:00, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

how about a new game based on all 3 books out for ps3 xbox (and wii) with the actual events in the correct order. Aang should be able to fight with all 4 elements not just air. Firebendng with aang was bad the water looked stupid and you could not fight with earth like in the series. come on at least make it longer 100 per cents in 6 hours come on. any ideas????????????????????? Lovingazula 18:59, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- You need to elaborate more on your exact requests. I can't understand what you are trying to say. Wikia is not MySpace or Facebook; it is an encyclopedia. Please, show some intelligence for a change and stop behaving so erroneously. Also, remember to speak properly or no one is going to understand you. --Energybender 19:05, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- DO YOU WANT A NEW AVATAR GAME FOR PS£ XBOX? Lovingazula 19:06, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- Energybender, I personally wouldn't worry about all that grammar and punctuation. I only expect to be able to understand what users say. The 888th Avatar - Talk 21:02, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] "See Also" vs. "See also"
Read my post at the community portal. You should not change back articles like this without discussion on it first. The 888th Avatar - Talk 21:38, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- There are many examples of articles that use a lowercase "a" in "See also". Here are some.
I've taken a look and decided that I'll go along with what you say.The 888th Avatar - Talk 22:19, 7 January 2009 (UTC)- Read my latest post on the community portal. It's a neutral stance. I'm going to let other people decide. The 888th Avatar - Talk 23:41, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] User:Henhouse
Henhouse, immediately after I did a major edit that took me a while to do, erased all of it and added new stuff. As I was going to alert her/him, I read that you told her/him that (s)he would be blocked if she did that again. So I am alerting you to do something, PLEASE, because I am really, really ticked off. --SuperFlash101 21:38, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
- Henhouse has been a little annoying. He's been adding content to pages that is good, but sometimes the old content was better. For example, he erased the intro I wrote a long time ago for some of the battle pages. I'm already watching him. The 888th Avatar - Talk 22:32, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Vandal??????
watch out for User:24.238.83.118 could be a vandal screwed up azula's info box but i fixed it. Lovingazula 21:42, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks!
Thank you for the advice, Energybender! Don't worry, I will be careful and treat the site as new territory. And I will continue to edit here as much as I have been. Again, thank you and I hope to see you editing on Heroes wiki soon! AlexTalk 18:49, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Move Protection
Most of them were move protected already, I move protected the remaining ones, by main characters, I considered those in the master template. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 19:04, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

- Does avatarspirit.net have any? Vaznock 00:47, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- They could, as they have more screenshots than Iroh.org. The 888th Avatar - Talk 00:49, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- Iroh.org is a much better quality. In fact, this discussion is currently going on at the Community Portal. Could you both take a look? --Energybender 00:54, 13 January 2009 (UTC)
- However, for the purposes of Avatar Wiki, the avatarspirit.net ones are good enough for thumbnails etc. Unless an avatarspirit.net image can be replaced, we shouldn't try to forcefully replace them with an image that doesn't fulfil the purpose of the old one. [edit] Re:Chinese
Well, I merely copied them from the respective articles (where I put them up a very long time ago). I am not fluent in Chinese, but I did research all the translations thoroughly using several dictionaries and other such sites - plus, several from season one were done by someone on another website, which I believe was Distant Horizon or some such. I hope this answers your question. Thanks! telane 00:15, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] A Favor
Hey. Can you do me a favor: the sysop on My Chem Wiki has blocked me for a year because I replaced a stub of a page with the construction of a better one. After a little bit, he blocked not only my account but also my IP, so I can't do anything. I was just hoping you could maybe message the person this:
"Hello. This is SuperFlash101. You have blocked me for an entire year because I replaced a stub of a page with the construction of a better one. I am a respected user on several wikis and a sysop of my own. I love this band, and have a huge idea to improve the wiki. I can make it better, and remove speculation like Gerard is dead. Please unblock me. Thank you. -SuperFlash101"
Thanks, because it would be a huge favor. --SuperFlash101 00:14, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Maybe I am away from my computer at the time you sent the message… ever thought of that? Seriously, think before you make such accusations. Also, on another matter, it seems that you have exceptional research and grammatical/punctuation abilities. I've seen your edits, and from them, a talent for writing professionally is evident. My only question is why you can't do the same on talk pages. It's so easy to do things well; you're just not trying hard enough. Now please, write the same as you do in mainspace on talk pages. --Energybender 21:15, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

- I just made two templates out of the important pages box and new article box. It may be a little off seeing as the border isn't included in the important pages template, but that is something that can be easily fixed. I just thought these two things were templates that were needed for a long time but were never created, that's all. --Energybender 21:02, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome
First tell me what the subst: tag does.
- Zero - Talk 05:51, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- Those IP Talk Pages were more than 5 months old. They were just sitting there without an edit for just as long. They were wasting space. And I'll thank you to remember that I deleted them with housekeeping as the reason for deletion. Besides. I havn't finished deleting them all. See: Avatar Wiki:Policy for details. Now, unless you've got a better reason than: It doesn't look good on pages that haven't been edited since they were made, I suggest you rethink your reasons and come up with a better one. If it is deemed sufficient then I shall grant your request. If not then not. Besides, I don't see any real reason for the subst:. The current version should suffice.
- Zero - Talk 03:51, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- Besides, the new Welcome template is much better looking than the old one. If you really want to do something then find a way to replace the call code of the template so that there are no more errors.
- Zero - Talk 03:58, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- Besides, this way we admins will be able to keep an eye on the IP Talk pages and delete them by using the "What links here" function and checking if the Ip Talk page hasn't been added to for 3 months.
- Zero - Talk 04:25, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- I noticed that you've been entering {{subst:welcome}} ~~~~ on new users' pages. The new version by Zero is actually supposed to be entered {{subst:welcome|~~~~}}. This puts your signature inside the template, making things neater. Also, thanks for your support on my request for adminship. The 888th Avatar (Talk) 02:34, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Omega bender
you ve seen what he is saying on omni's talk? does he want to get blocked. i ve been angry at people on avatar wiki but i have never said anything like that.Luvingazula - Talk 18:13, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
- I get the impression he's jealous of the fact he can't make good edits like Omnibender can. This kind of thing happens to a bureaucrat. He will be personally attacked, like he just was, but it's part of the jb dealing with it. I think that this guy is obsessed with dbeing beter than everyone else, so he chose a name similar to Omni's. He'll get rid of him with a quick block, but then again he could return and change like you have. Anything's possible. --Energybender 18:21, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Adminship
Zero things that RfA should be opened to anyone. Did you want to apply for adminship? The 888th Avatar (Talk)
- Yes, I've submitted my message of clarification at the new admins forum. --Energybender 14:40, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Heh, I saw you said you were going to make a bot. This intrigued me, what language are you going to write it in, and what capabilities will it have? When you make it, please release it so I can take a look, sounds pretty cool. Oh, and I'm not sure what it will be able to do, but until you make it, or if it does something different; feel free to have full access to my bot and feel at home with my bot. Oh, and what background do you have with bots? We could always talk nerd :P By the way, good luck with your RfA, it is going to be interesting :) Thanks. Joey - Talk Contribs 00:43, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, my experience with coding could use some help, so I might take a look at your bot before I make EnergyBot. And I want to go into IT as my career, so I need all the prep work I can get at this point. About RfA's, I think what Omni should have done was let all three of us be admins, seeing as that many have gone inactive (or should have) since they first started being made in '05. I don't like the competetion we have to put up with, especially since we were already trusted with rollback anyway. --Energybender 00:58, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- You're right, he should have made us all admins. I had no idea that this was going to be so difficult when I posted on Omni's talk page. Now, the pressure is on me, because I have more to lose than you guys. Anyway, I don't think six "active" administrators really hurts, because the three of us are more active than any of the current administrators. The 888th Avatar (Talk) 07:08, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I guess it's five and a semi-ative admin, due to Puragus' comment. Perhaps we could talk to Omnibender? Something about the possible negative energy from this may not be specifically helpful to our wiki, whilst the process of making all three of us admins would be beneficial anyways? Anyone against that? Oh and if you write your bot, you will soon find it is like making a mini-OS, ;) Try python or something basic like that, and try to include regex or something so that it has enhanced capabilities. Write a lot of scripts too! Joey - Talk Contribs 15:42, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

I wasn't exactly sure where to put this, but... I think that an article on Fire nation prisons (in general) would be a useful addition to this wiki. I thougth that since you have some authority around here, you could validate it before I write up some page that might just get deleated. It's happened a lot, I mean well, but I just don't have enough experience, or a good enough filter to really judge. Gaylesking 18:49, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks
Thanks for the welcome back. I didn't realize I had rollback. It's not really a promotion. It's just another tool to help the wiki. Administrators and bureaucrats aren't any higher ranked than regular users. We just have a few more tools to work with. Thanks for the welcome back, though. Have fun and if you need any help or have any news, please leave me a message on my talk page. Mattkenn3 Talk 15:16, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- Certainly, although unless I've been gone for a while, I'll have my act together. I'll be the one you can ask for help instead of the other way around. Just so you know, we typically respond to comments on the first talk page the message was instigated on nowadays. So if I comment on your talk page, you can respond right there. Also, have you been to the IRC channel yet? If not, check it out. --Energybender 15:23, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
I'm not really into the whole IRC thing. I'm just going to edit on the wiki, post proposals or important notices/votes on the Community portal, and stay in contact with the community on their talk pages. I'm not really into the IRC, blogs, or anything like that. It just complicates things. By the way, everybody needs help sometimes. Mattkenn3 Talk 15:46, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- I actually favor IRC over user blogs and the rest of the new items such as userboxes (although auto-welcoming is a good one). It's a much faster way of contacting people, as it's an instant messenger. You should at least try it. --Energybender 15:56, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
I'll try it. There is no guarantee I'll continue with it. I will try it. I have to go at the moment. I'll be back later. Mattkenn3 Talk 15:59, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
I don't believe that I have gained rollback. Mattkenn3 Talk 23:19, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- It's true, you haven't. I checked this list, and it didn't include you. You've only requested it, but Omnibender hasn't granted it yet. Also, if you haven't gone on IRC yet, do so now. I'm currently available, but if you get this message any later, that fact will change. --Energybender 01:12, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
I know. I don't get IRC. It confuses me. Mattkenn3 Talk 01:42, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

I see you deleted the image talk page. Is that not allowed here? Or is that you favour tacgnol? Long cat 20:29, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- I deleted it in compliance with the policy, which dictates that if a page is unneeded or vandalized, such should be done. That page was spammed, and the reason given at the time of deletion pointed that out. You may wish to view the policy page at the link I've given, as well as the Manual of Style. Featured user: Howabout1 is a user that newer members of the community may not know. He may not be active at the moment (he has been largely inactive for half a year now), but he is in fact the founder of the wiki you are on right now. Howabout1 was known as the unofficial leader of the wiki from its inception to late in 2008, and dealt many of its blocks, user rights changes, deletions, etc. As the unofficial leader of the wiki, he also had to deal with the dirty matters of the wiki, including disputes. However, Howabout was also known to be a little authoritative, but this was perhaps because of the difficulty of his position. All in all, Howabout was an excellent bureaucrat, but is now largely retired, having moved on to better things. User Blog Difficulties For some time, Avatar Wiki discussed the introduction of user blogs. The problem, it seems, is that Wikia did not seem to want to help us, citing lost advertising revenue. But then, on 30 April, they suddenly reneged on that decision and gave us blogs. Here's the IRC discussion explaining why. [15:09] <HuggleAway> Any particular reason to give Avatar Wiki blogs all of the sudden? Prizes for anyone who can decipher their meaning (fully decipher that is).
As we all know, Avatar will be adapted into a movie by famous director M. Night Shyamalan. The movie was entitled The Last Airbender as to not confuse it with another film coming out the same year. Sweet deal, right? End of story, huh? Not quite. Once casting was announced, fans became outraged that every single actor/actress was Caucasian. In fact, the outrage spread and skyrocketed on the internet when a group called "Aang Ain't White" was formed on Live Journal, urging people to write letters to Paramount, and oh did they! So many people began to join the group, so many sending letters to Paramount. Paramount, however began to ignore the letters, angering the senders. Eventually, however, they responded in Twitter updates, which constantly denied accusations of racism in the casting choices. So, as the controversies rage, I suppose it will all be settled once the film itself is released. Only time will tell.

[edit] Welcoming users
Energy, I don't know if you know or not but there's no need to manually welcome users. There's a bot for the job. If you would like to be one of the sigs automatically put on the page when the bot creates it, see Avatar Wiki:Welcoming Committee and add your sig to the (small) list on User:Joeyaa/Signatures. Wjxhuang, the 888th Avatar {Talk} 23:10, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. Yes, I did know about JoeyaaBot welcoming users from the log, but what I ddin't know was that it was up and running, and I saw that user still unwelcomed, so I did it. I won't anymore, assuming the bot works. It's supposed to, anyway. --Energybender 23:15, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
- It's been running for a while now without problems, so we can assume it works :) Wjxhuang, the 888th Avatar {Talk} 23:18, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I've seen this forum a while ago, but Joey just told me on IRC he was tweaking it, so that influenced my thought of it's working state. --Energybender 23:20, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
- Oh yeah, I have it on a 60 (or so) second wait before welcoming a new user just so that it reduces server strain and it even gives them a chance to do it themselves. If you or anyone else thinks it would be better to increase/decrease that time, I'd love to hear that suggestion. Also, it should always work and stay on (it's dependent on Unixpod's servers however) and if it ever stops working, please message me here or on IRC with the time of the problem :) ANyway, just so you guys know, I also have SudoKing's (PsuedoOne) script running on the server now too. Everything should now work. Joey - Talk Contribs 23:23, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Admin Talk Page
I have no desire to quarrel. However I cannot allow you to deviate from standard procedure. Please revert your changes untill the discussion is properly concluded. Or you can ignore me and destroy the logic that you yourself are trying to create. Namely that you are not above the rules. Because if you do not then you really are above the rules. Your choice.
- Zero - Talk 14:59, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- lol Nice try. And if Energybender doesn't than you are above the rules. Please don't twist rules to your benefit. Just yield and accept defeat. ― Thailog 15:02, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
What are we causing by not having a standard vote? As a community, we've agreed, and you only count as one opinion, per soon to be policy, and your sysop powers aren't going to give you the power anymore to make your disagreement powerful enough to trifle over the community (no offense, Zero). Vaznock - Talk 15:05, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- Zero2001: If you wish to have the heading at the top of Avatar Wiki talk:Administrators reflect the fact that it is used for administrative discussion, you must unarchive the most recent archive created by The 888th Avatar in order to show that it is used in the way you are describing. --Energybender 15:07, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Wait, even that archive wasn't used solely for administrators. In fact, most of those discussions belonged for the entire community. And Energy, don't worry, the voting process already took place on Forum:Admin Policy, because that itself is one big box of voting. Vaznock - Talk 15:09, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, then. It's just that in the past, the same thing happened with Felinoel. He was angry that his vote was unaccounted for because it wasn't in the voting procedure area. I think we need a community discussion about what a "voting procedure" actually is; the text from users or the box area with a list of names. --Energybender 15:14, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Oh god, more stuff.........Vaznock - Talk 15:14, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
If you wish to ignore the rules then so be it Thailog. But dont drag energybender into it. Untill a decision is reached it cannot be implemented. That is the rule.
- Zero - Talk 15:39, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Ahem, this is my talk page, Zero2001. You don't have to leave a message here to avoid talking to Thailog. Just decist already; it's over. --Energybender 15:41, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- Finally we agree on something here: until a decision is reached it cannot be implemented. You are just neglecting to see that a decision has been reached – it simply is one that you don't like. ― Thailog 15:44, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

User rights changes: None Featured user: Firelord Sunny is has been inactive for nearly three years, but the impact he has left on the wiki is large without a doubt. Sunny was one of the very few users who was here consistently through its difficult early days, adding content wherever it was needed and whenever it was released. Sunny laid the foundation for many of the best articles we see today, and the wiki would not have been the same without him. Autoconfirmed "Revolution"? by Vaznock What started as simple request to change the profile picture for Kyoshi Warriors eventually turned into an agreement to limit the "power" of an administrator. During the discussion over whether to change the profile picture or not, an administrator, Energybender, made a comment that was identified as being much too authoritative, despite his sysop privileges. The discussion then moved onto another users talk page, in which many people, after reading Energybender's comments, established that the idea of authority needed to end, both to the administrators and the regular users. Many users started to share their opinions on what they could change to make users more equal, and two administrators, Joeyaa and The 888th Avatar, were in total agreement of the ideas made by the users. In not much time later, a Forum, called Forum:Admin Policy, was set up for the entire community to voice their opinions on the matter. Many topics on the forum include protecting pages, the possible abolishment of the admin-only talk page, the definition of an admin, and a change in the Requests for Adminship process. Currently, the changes are in most of the community's favor, though only time will tell when and if these changes will be made anytime soon. Remember to vote on the forum, so you can play a part in the changing history of Avatar Wiki.
Everyone remembers the craze that arose over American R-rated film Slumdog Millionaire, which was only a mere few months ago. Starring in that movie was now famous British-Indian actor Dev Patel. Well, guess what? Patel will be playing Zuko in The Last Airbender, the movie adaption of the show we all know. Originally, Paramount announced that Jesse McCartney would play as the banished prince, which had some fans verklempt. McCartney's rough touring schedule, however, caused him to be unable to fulfill the role. After some more time, it was Patel who was chosen, exciting those who knew of his acting. So, what can we expect from Patel? Well, clearly the boy can do some serious moments, as demonstrated non-stop throughout Slumdog. As well as being a now famous actor, Patel's ancestry lightens some "Aang Ain't White" activists, though the controversies still rage on. Patel promises to make Airbender an amazing film.

Featured user: Take a look at some of the larger articles, search up the history and scroll down to 2007. Invariably, Greekpimp will be there. Take a look at Special:ListUsers. Despite being inactive for more than a year now, Greekpimp is still up high in the list, and has sysop and bureaucrat flags. Greekpimp has made a massive contribution to this wiki. He laid the foundation work for many of the articles and images we see today, and was the first bureaucrat who was not the founder. (Greekpimp never granted adminship to others, however.) We live today in his shadow, and his presence is still felt, a year after his disappearance from this wiki. End of the Revolution by Vaznock After a series of debating, coming up with ideas, and even some arguing, the community has nearly or completely finalized the new policies that decrease the idea of administrators being "almighty". Changes include abolishing the admin-only talk page, changing the Requests for Adminship procedures, un-protecting almost all of the protected pages on the wiki, and changing the process of choosing a featured article of the month. Almost the entire community is happy with these changes, except for one long-time administrator, Zero2001, who argued otherwise. Eventually, Zero2001 decided to become inactive, and leave Avatar Wiki. Many users were not happy to see him decide to leave, though some identified it simply as a cry for attention. Whether he will return or not is unknown. Currently, the discussions on Forum:Admin Policy are nearly closed, though some finalized opinions would still be welcomed!
As the official film website of The Last Airbender has been released ([2]), real images have as well been released! So far, images of Aang and Zuko have been released, along with an image of the Water Tribe seas, Zuko with his soldiers in the snow (now re-uploaded with full body and view-only water mark), Fire Nation soldiers, and the Southern Water Tribe are the only ones included. As time passes, more and more images are likely to be uploaded. It appears, however, that they are copyright claiming them, not allowing them to be saved. We will respect this claim until further notice. If you want to see the photos yourself, check out the film gallery!

Featured user: Puragus is a highly respected member of the Avatar Wiki community. Experienced and level-headed, he remains an integral part of the administration today, a voice of reason and caution. Puragus joined the wiki in the December of 2007, and has been making excellent contributions for the one and a half years since then. When he joined the wiki, the community was completely different in composition and in character, and Puragus has had the honour of seeing the construction of today's community. We at The Ba Sing Se Times congratulate him on his hard work over the eighteen months of participation he has put in, and hopes he continues his standard of excellence well into the future. Inactivity is no game! by Vaznock Our wiki is old, and over the years, we've changed many things, but there was always a problem. Administrators, good and not so good, would come and go, becoming inactive forever. Eventually, after the promotion of The 888th Avatar, Joeyaa, and Energybender, the amount of admins our wiki had built up to a very large extent, with more than half of them being inactive. After the decided policies to take away the power and concepts of power an admin held, Joeyaa proposed that we also "demote" the inactive admins, as they were not chosen in the form that admins are now supposed to be chosen. After discussion on Forum:Removal of Inactive Admins, in which most users agreed and the usually inactive founder, Howabout1, though in disagreement, stated he was fine with it. Only one inactive admin, Felinoel, was upset that he would lose his powers, and expressed his anger toward the community on his talk page. Despite this, the removals went as planned, and a member of the Wikia Community Team, Uberfuzzy, demoted the six inactive admins. The admins consisted of Avatar Sanders, Felinoel, Greekpimp, Howabout1, Wack'd About Wiki, and Zero2001, ranging from being inactive for one week to three and a half years. But that's not all, the sudden loss of bureaucrats, and the regular need for one or two more bureaucrats, has caused a new page, Project:Requests for Bureaucratship to be created. The page is currently open with one nomination for bureaucratship pending.
Wikia will be releasing the new editing interface from next week. It is a big step away from the current editor, as it is WYSIWYG ("what you see is what you get"). You may have already seen the new interface if you have been to a newer wiki, but Wikia has announced that it will now be generally released to all wikis, with a few small exceptions, which do not include Avatar Wiki. I've taken the liberty of quoting some text off Wikia help for a little further explanation. The editor allows you to use a "word-processor" type toolbar to format an article in the following ways without any wikimarkup:
When in the default mode, the article will appear in the edit box almost exactly as it will on the saved page, like an instant preview. Users can also switch to "Wikitext source" mode to view and edit the article using wikimarkup. To get to this mode, click the "wikitext source" button on the far right of the toolbar. To edit existing images, videos, tables and templates:
The editor will be enabled on Avatar Wiki by default. Users who prefer the older editing interface can turn it off via their user preferences.

[edit] Hi Energybender
How did this wiki go from being some piece of shit wikia that nobody gave a damn about? I used to be able to vandalize this bad boy without getting in trouble and all the articles looked like pure crap and were just copied from Wikipedia. Also crappy layout too. Now this piece of shit has a professional layout and looks good and has staff. WTF is this shit?

Featured user: This feature will return next week, due to the editor being extremely busy and unavailable for this task. BSST apologises for any disappointment in advance. The Merge: It Has Arrived Avatar Fanon has joined Avatar Wiki as of 27 June to start as a merged wiki. From today, users will be permitted to write fanon/fan fiction on Avatar Wiki, providing they write in the namespace "Fanon:". This simply means that people who want to write fan fiction/fanon in Avatar Wiki should type If you need any help at all regarding fan fiction and fanon, the four fanon admins, SuperFlash101, Waterkai, Vaznock and Zukofan123 will be able to help. Some of the full admins, such as Joeyaa and myself can also answer general enquiries. If you're wondering, the combination of the merger and the summer holidays is the reason for the compact nature of this edition of BSST. You can start writing fanon by simply typing the name of the story or character in this box! Avatar News Story Entertainment Tonight officially released the teaser trailer of The Last Airbender this week on June 22. In it, we get a brief clip of a hooded Aang displaying some Airbending moves in a room filled with candles as a Don LaFontaine-like voice narrates, explaining the plot. Following this are a few previously released image of Aang and Zuko, along with the official poster for the film. Not much can be told from this brief trailer, but we here at the Ba Sing Se Times can at least say, "the effects were decent."

Featured user: It is not often noticed, but TLane laid the foundation for a myriad of articles that we see today - text, translations (which he took huge efforts to do considering that he is not Chinese), images, and even a template or two. His work throughout the last one and a half years has been in the background, but the combined weight of the changes he has made has seen this wiki become an extremely reliable, authoritative and well-presented Avatar resource.

Featured user: Zero2001, better known as Zero, was a controversial user and admin on Avatar Wiki. His direct and abrasive method of speaking drew criticism from many circles, although some users and Zero maintained that he had no dubious intentions at heart. However, most users gave him high praise for his excellent technical work around the wiki. This included the navigation templates now found on every page, as well as dozens of other templates. Zero was also extremely knowledgeable about Avatar, stating on his user page that he had committed all sixty episodes of the TV show to his memory. Zero was an admin from July 2008 to June 2009. News Story by Vaznock (with changes by The 888th Avatar) A few weeks ago, wikia gave us something new - the Rich Text Editor. The upgrade was basically supposed to make it easier for new users to make certain edits, as they will be able to visibly see the edits they make, almost as if they're in "Preview" mode. However, their is also another group of users whom the Rich Text Editor affects - the experienced users. Here is what some of more experienced users of Avatar Wiki have to say in a response to the question: What do you think of the Rich Text Editor? Have you already disabled it in your preferences? "I personally find the Rich Text Editor rather annoying. I have disabled it in my preferences, because I find it very troublesome to work with it. I prefer the old one." -Waterkai, Fanon Administrator "To paraphrase Mai, there is no fathom in the hatred I feel for the Rich Text Editor." -Thailog, Rollback User "No, in fact I have not disabled it. Yet, I am quite fluent in the original editor. I use both, but the new editor often has issues. It is very hard to place and move pictures, so I use the original editor for that. The Rich text editor for the most part is very easy to use, but it has lots of bugs. But, if I must choose between them, I would choose the original, it has no bugs." -The avatar, Rollback User "This is another one of those things that may cause a bit of mayhem in the short term, but is bound to improve the wiki in the long term with the better accessibility to new users. Improvements are ongoing and I am sure that it will turn out to be a widely lauded feature on Wikia." -The 888th Avatar, Bureaucrat and Administrator As it can be seen, experienced users mainly think of the Rich Text Editor as a nuisance, though not all users have disabled it. The only voice of dissent seems to be from the chief editor of the BSST himself, other than Joeyaa, who was also supportive on the community portal talk page). However, if you struggle with wiki coding, it is highly advisable you continue editing the Rich Text Editor until you feel comfortable without it.
We had to see this coming, no? The Last Airbender has officially announced their product placement! That's right, readers - action figures, shirts, toy playsets, and more yet to be announced. Spin Master, one of the toy adapters, has stated that they are excited to get them on shelves. Well, let's hope that it sells better than the original line of toys for the show, as we all know that's why we don't have a spin-off. And in related news, BSST won't be the only place for you to find out about news about the movie; an official Avatar Wiki user group has formed under the title Wan Shi Tong's Library and will be starting blogs in order to give you the latest news ASAP. Now, this doesn't mean that this column is useless now. In fact, this way, the BSST can give more in depth info as there's more to say. Yeah, the exact opposite of Longshot.

[edit] Re:Requests for Fanon Administratorship
Yeah, I was thinking of creating that. Right now there's not really a need for it, but I suppose creating it early wouldn't hurt. We'll probably have it created before the end of the month. Thanks! Vaznock - Talk 16:59, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
- End of the month? Why so long? If you'd like it created, do it as soon as possible so as to not let it slip your memory. And as a reminder, please respond on your talk page where I asked the question. Thanks. --Energybender 17:02, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
- Don't worry. It's not going to slip my mind. Currently, there are users who are starting to become worthy of the position, and I've calculated that by the end of the month, they'll be worthy. Plus, there's three other fanon admins who can also remember, I doubt all four of us will forget. Vaznock - Talk 17:04, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Sorry to pour on cold water, but I personally don't think the level of traffic at the moment can justify the election of more fanonadmins. We don't need the page either; since users who write fanon only make up half of the regulars and less than half of total users, I doubt we need such a formal process. [edit] change the name of the bending from energybending to lightbending
honestly i have always portrayed 6 creation elements rather than 4. i have always believed there to be the well known 4 (air, water, earth, and fire) but i have always believed that there were 2 more, light and darkness. and with this new kind of bending, most often called energybending, is just like bending the element light. also because there was never an official name for this type of bending i think it should be called light bending rather than energybending, after all light is another kind of energÿ. Featured user: None this issue Foamipedia by Vaznock Well, Avatar Fanon Wiki has been a thing of the past since the two wikis were merged. The wiki we once called our sister wiki is no longer in existence. But there's still one more wiki relating to Avatar, and it's Foamipedia, the Official Avatar Humor Wiki. The wiki, created by Andftw, is aimed to provide a barrage of articles making fun of the Avatar Universe and parodying it. You can find out all general information on the actual site. However, despite being a laid back and humorous type of site, the wiki still has a documented policy that must be followed in order to maintain success. All in all, you must take on the wiki maturely, but still bring your sense of humor with you. So if you have a sense of humor and you specialize in making people laugh, Foamipedia is your kind of place!
Last issue, I told you the exclusive story of The Last Airbender and it's new merchandise. But the tale doesn't stop there - you know good old Viacom, they're going to to milk this until it's dry, which is good for us. This time around we're delving deep into the stylistic influences on Avatar and touching upon the Japanese cult phenomenon: manga. At the end of last month, I reported on this for Wan Shi Tong's Library but left out some important details. That's because I want to keep you full of tension and anticipation for this issue XD. But seriously, folks, as you know, the Mangas will be adaptions of both the series and the Airbender film, drawn by actually Japanese Manga artist. Nickelodeon Global Publishing said to activeanime.com: "We’re excited to partner with [the Manga's publisher] Del Rey on these upcoming manga releases. Recreating and adapting the layered storylines and incredible, animated martial arts of the Avatar series and upcoming feature film in the manga style will allow fans to experience their favorite moment from the show over and over again." Del Ray similarly reported, "We’re excited to be working with Nickelodeon to bring these great stories to the manga audience. Avatar: The Last Airbender has shown incredible crossover appeal with manga fans. The release of The Last Airbender movie and original tie-in manga gives us the chance to share completely new stories with Avatar fans looking for more about Aang, Zuko, and their favorite characters." The Last Airbender is set to be released in theaters on July 2, 2010. Filming has ceased and Shymalan and his crew on working on the post-production. The teaser trailer has been released in theaters, the internet, and television, and the official one is likely to be released later this year. The official website is also up, located at http://www.thelastairbendermovie.com/ and fans can also follow it at the official Twitter page.

- Avatar Wiki
- Chapters
- Films
- Charaters
- Universe
- Top Content
- Community
And so on ... Me too so I want to My wiki is Maxnaście wiki, just tell me how to do this step by step (even in English can be). Write on e-mail or the glazewskimaced@wp.pl or on my discussion (in my wikia and not your)
Please! I want to have a nice Wikia!
- And how it was done by a few admins, because for me cermer simply checks if there is no vandalism
- I used google translator —Preceding unsigned comment added by Założyciel (talk • contribs) 18:57, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
- Did you mean you want to put the comic on the site? Since I've been out of regular activity, and therefore am not completely up to speed on policy, it'd be only my best guess to suggest that you create your comic here as a fanon article. Just type "Fanon:" in the search box to specify the fanon namespace, followed by the article's name. This will create your article within the fanon namespace. I hope this helps! If you have any more questions, I'm all ears. --Energybender 22:47, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
- You created the comic yourself, right? This would make it fanon. Because the comic was not created by the makers and producers of Avatar: The Last Airbender, it would not qualify for an article on our wiki's mainspace. However, an article about your wiki, the Maxnaście wiki, could be created. --Mattkenn3 Talk 01:42, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

This Summer by Vaznock As the summer begins to come to an abrupt conclusion, we can only hope that the summer of 2010 will bring us as much fortune and success as this one has. As we look back to all the changes and great ideas that have helped our wiki grow and prosper, we can now only swim in the aftermath of these changes. From April to June, our wiki was put in to major refinement. Because of what happened during those months, we now have a newsletter, a new and better administrative policy, a wiki that allows fanon, and a path that gave way to some immense summer fun and more changes, which includes:
However, our adventures on Avatar Wiki are far from over. In fact, they've just begun, as this Summer marks the beginning of the new Avatar Wiki! For example, it has been said that our wiki is lacking in forums and news. If these aspects are covered, we will become the ultimate Avatar site! So come down and participate this Autumn!
That's right folks, Dao Le, who was an animatic director for Avatar: The Last Airbender and therefore a member of the crew, has officially announced he supports Racebending and finds the casting for Airbender to be racist. The official Racebending.com released this statement given to them by Dao Le himself: BuddyTV reports that Le finds it "hard to believe they couldn't find one Asian actor to hold any of the lead protagonist parts." While doing animatics on the series, Le reportedly "believed" the characters were Asian, or Asian-mixed, and confirms that the series itself is Asian influenced, like many others have stated before - "With the pre-dominantly white cast, it feels like all the Asian/Eastern influences, origins, what have you, were just a backdrop for these characters." Not only this, but several other staff members have stated that they're flabergasted and support Racebending. Like I reported back in June, Sifu Kisu mentioned that legally he's unable to state his opinion, but was able to say that he wants to "say something so bad" and that "some of [the fans] are SO right & [they] don't even know." So only time will tell if even the crew of the show will boycott the movie, or, dare I say, even the co-creators themselves.
We're currently open to new ideas for making a new feature for Avatar Wiki's official newsletter! If you're interested, please submit your ideas on Avatar Wiki talk:The Ba Sing Se Times or email the editors! | |

Normally, this article would be about what happened. Today, this article is about what hasn't happened, from the editor. And a plea for some action. Chiefly, there are a few projects that need finishing. The most important among these is the article splitting project, which needs to be made a high priority. However, it is discussions where we'll need to pick up the pace. We need to do something about quite a few Improvements and Issues forums. See the discussion list to the right for a summary of the discussions that need immediate attention. The Ba Sing Se Times itself is looking for a new feature. All suggestions will be considered; please suggest on Avatar Wiki talk:The Ba Sing Se Times.
It's been a period of time since we have heard from the producers of The Last Airbender, but in the past week reports have circulated that they are working on a full-length trailer to be released for Christmas. Frank Marshall said on Twitter:
This is a significant gap between the teaser and the full-length, and there has been some criticism that the gap will make it likely for some to "forget" about the film.

[edit] Signatures
It was already awry to begin with. I was trying to correct the miscodings in their signatures. I see span tags being closed by /font tags and vice versa. Right after I made my first few corrections, the part of the page where I edited was displayed fine. I've contacted Puragus to clean up the rest of his signatures on the Aang talk pages, but I still saw two other people with similar miscodings. So I corrected the tags. --Secretss 18:08, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
- I said on Puragus' talk page that I said you weren't the cause in the way the signatures displayed. Then since you weren't fixing the problem, I went and reverted your changes. By all means, fix it, but click "Preview" first. --Energybender 18:16, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
- I was fixing the problem, actually, and succeeding too, by correcting the miscodings in their signatures; until you reverted my corrections and I saw your first message and I guess I got defensive since, you know, I was actually fixing the problem you accused me of. I'm sorry if I sounded rude in any way, I know I get pretty harsh and defensive very easily. The page is fine now. I just hope there aren't a lot of people going around talk pages with miscoded signatures.--Secretss 19:10, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
- Good, but couldn't you have done it all at once? --Energybender 19:12, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
- I think the reason you thought I wasn't fixing the problem was because I only corrected up to and before the Game Info heading, and I saved the page without continuing. The bulk of the problem was from Game Info onwards, so it probably looked like my edits didn't do anything since they weren't obvious. For your question, I have no answer. I know I know, I should use the preview button more often. --Secretss 19:10, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
- What do you mean "no answer"? If you were trying to avoid an edit conflict, that is a perfectly acceptable reason. I didn't know what you could have been doing when the rest of it was still blue. Also, please stop adding edit to a change in your message. Just put it into how it previously was. --Energybender 19:21, September 27, 2009 (UTC)
- While "trying to avoid an edit conflict" is a valid reason, it's not my reason, because I wasn't. I guess as a force of habit (of saving documents periodically as I work on them) I wanted to save the page after a bunch of edits. I hope this isn't going to turn out with you being biased against me for the rest of my stay on Avatar Wikia because that would totally suck.--Secretss 19:33, September 27, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] I'm A Little Confused…
Yeah, I just got complaints from other people for posting articles improperly. I checked my Avatar Wiki:Manual of Style which I assume everyone, including you, gets when you create a new account. It says the exact opposite of what your telling me, so I'm just going to go with what the manual says. Read it yourself if you don't believe me; It's under "Tense". —Preceding unsigned comment added by JFH2009 (talk • contribs) 00:25, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
- First, it isn't your Manual of Style, as in everyone gets a copy; it's just one central one. Secondly, it can be edited to make it so that writing in present tense is the correct thing to do. I'm unsure who came up with that idea for the manual, but it seems wrong. Finally, don't keep doing something other people tell you is wrong just because the textbook you are reading it out of tells you to. That textbook, the Manual of Style in this case, is wrong. Also, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). --Energybender 00:38, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
- That "who" would be me, and to me, it seems right. Writing in past tense is the correct method to fill out synopses and history sections. No-one would write a history textbook in the present tense - that stuff happened in the past. All event articles should use past tense. I believe that is what is said on the Manual of Style. Sorry Energy, but I think JFH is right. Wjxhuang, the 888th Avatar {Talk} 07:51, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
- I understand it isn't "My Manual". I even said that everyone, including you, got one. But it WAS posted under "My" Talk page when I first created "My" account. And even if I did think that was true, who cares? What would me thinking that have to do with anything? I feel like your just trying to discredit me by make me look stupid, when all your really doing is making yourself look like a jerk. --JFH2009 11:23, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
- The present tense is usually used when the series are still on the air. Once they end, it's more reasonable to use the past tense to write about events that now belong to the past. Using the present tense may mislead readers into thinking that the show is still going on. ― Thailog 12:25, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not trying to be a jerk, JFH2009, but I thought that was right. If the series was still going on, I guess it would be, but it isn't. I guess it seems a little weird that nobody has changed it until now, actually. It's these sort of things that need proper discussions in order for them to have clarity. --Energybender 21:57, September 28, 2009 (UTC)
- Alright, I'm sorry if I got too offended. I'm just trying to help make the site more organized. --JFH2009 01:17, September 29, 2009 (UTC)
