What the Equalists' Music Might Sound Like
The Track Team, Jeremy Zuckerman and Benjamin Wynn, recently posted the following on their facebook page: "music geeks: Chi Blockers seem to be getting their own scale...1,2,b3,#4,#5,6,7".
On sheet music, this scale (in C) looks like this: http://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff430/uiop60/eqscale.jpg
The scale is relatively similar to a melodic minor scale (1,2,b3,4,5,6,7) but with the fourth and fifth raised.
A fan already uploaded a video demonstrating the scale, but I decided to come up with a theme based on the Equalists' scale, found here.
The chord progression consists largely of the following:
C minor (4 beats), D major (4 beats), Eb augmented (4 beats), C diminished over F# (2 beats), B augmented over F# (2 beats).
It's a bit more rhyt…

'A:TLA The Promise Behind the Scenes'
So you might have known that I emailed Gene Yang. Well, he finished his video presentation of a bunch of slides from The Promise Part 1, and here it is: A:TLA The Promise Behind the Scenes on Gene Yang's Blog
News:
- Partial script for page 5 (the one after the ones previewed on Amazon)
- Lots of concept art, detailing the new character outfits
- the Zuko Mullet picture (it's only a little mullety)
- Final art for page 5
- thumbnail of cover for Part 3
It's funny; in the description he mentions the Amazon fiasco. In the wise words of Gene Yang (in another email), "I think publishing just has a hard time keeping pace with the combination of technology and human ingenuity". In other words, leaks are going to happen. It's our job to act appropriately when they…
First few pages of The Promise Part 1
This is the sort of thing that infuriates me that I didn't find it sooner. If you go to the Amazon site for The Promise Part One, and click on the book's cover, you can get a preview of the inside,as well as the back few pages. While you're there, preorder the book! From these pages, we know:
- The comic begins very similarly to episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender, but with an extension: "...I believed Aang could save the world. And you know what? I was right. With the help of his friends, Aang defeated Fire Lord Ozai and ended the hundred year war. Zuko, Ozai's son and our ally, became the new Fire Lord. Together with Earth King Kuei, Aang and Zuko promised to restore the four nations to harmony.
- This means Kuei will most likely make an appearance…
