An entirely new scene, to give both Zhao and Ozai a more defining presence early in the film, as well as detail a bit more of the dynamics between the two I'm wanting to express. Ozai has more of a presence, yes, but I'm still wanting Zhao to keep his personality. I'd imagine with Zhao's ambitions that he'd be at some more odds with Ozai than illustrated to us.

And, should this ever become an actual film (animated or otherwise) Ozai would be filmed from the back until Book Three.

The Legend of Aang: A Matter of Dire Importance

INT. FIRE NATION – THRONE ROOM – DAY

OZAI is now seated on his throne, his back to us as another man paces in front of him.

ZHAO

And you are certain of this?

OZAI

It is incontrovertible.

ZHAO

Then we are caught up the river without a paddle.

OZAI

What do you mean?

ZHAO

We do not have the facilities to face both the Avatar and the Earth Kingdom.

OZAI sighs, placing his head in his hands.

OZAI

My son is still out there.

ZHAO chuckles in disbelief.

ZHAO

I would sooner face the Avatar’s wrath before trusting the duty to him. His arrogance would surely be our downfall.

OZAI

What do you propose we do, then?

ZHAO

I shall go. I have constantly proven my worth to you, and it would be the greatest honor to capture him.

OZAI

For the sake of your ego?

ZHAO

For the sake of the country! His very existence spells doom for us, you cannot refute that!

OZAI taps his ring against the arm of his throne.

OZAI

And, if my son should return in your place?

ZHAO

He shall not. And I shall not disappoint you, my lord.
