We are all aware of the Legend of Korra coming out in the middle of this year (or possibly later). But will it come out in HD? Some of the people reading this may not care, some might actually do. For me it would be very intresting to see the progress and how it looks to have a Japanese anime style cartoon in HD. And since the trailer was released in 1080p, there is quite a chance the Legend of Korra will, too, be made in high definition.
For those not aware, the original Avatar series were made in SD (480i), a much lower quality. Of course, at that time, the HD technology was new and it was almost impossible for a brand new show to be released in HD. But now, after all these years of waiting, maybe the new Avatar series will be made in a higher definition. This, though will require quite some more work:
I am not an expert, but I have read books on designing anime on computers and the resolution/size they must be done for an HD anime series is going to be enormous. And the bigger the picture, the more time it takes to finish. But in the end, you end up with a product that is a much higher quality and much more detailed. Nonetheless, who knows what will happen.
