Hey there, Mageddon725 here, reviewing Whispers of Tempests by MibuWolf on behalf of the Fanon Review Squad.
The world has been at peace. Huojin, the previous Avatar, successfully managed to quell a stirring conflict in the West, bringing about the unification of the Fire Nation. Six years ago, he died of old age. Following his death, the next Avatar was born into the Air Nomads: Avatar Yangchen. We identified her as the Avatar when she was still just a little girl, but following tradition we are to wait until she is sixteen for her to realize her destiny. Or so we thought. Now, the Eastern nations are in conflict. Violence has yet to break out, but it is looming over the horizon. The Avatar is still too young to be called upon, thus it falls upon the shoulders of other mediators to try to calm the storm before it ravages the world...
Tempests is yet another impressive fanon from MibuWolf, this time revolving around the Air Nomads during Yangchen’s era. It is a wonderfully crafted tale with memorable characters and a story that will keep you reading. That being said, I did run into a few issues that I believe took away from the overall experience.
Scores:
Story – 9.4: Whispers of Tempests is a fantastic tale that covers an era in the world of Avatar seldom explored in fanon.
Action – 9.3: Beautifully described and always used in its proper place.
Writing – 10.0: I couldn’t find anything wrong here. Believe me; I tried. But Mibu does this so excellently.
Creativity – 10.0: Another ten…and it is also deserved. Never have I read a piece like this.
Believability – 8.0: This is the area where I felt like certain elements ruined the immersion for me. The language and sexual banter is not necessarily bad, but the extensive use of it is a little jarring, especially coming from Air Nomads.
Character Development – 8.5: The other area where things felt a little…off. The biggest problem was the constant nagging sensation that the Air Nomads in the story were acting distinctly un-nomad like, particularly Eizo and Kanae.
Average Score: 9.2

Advice for MibuWolf: I know that you tend to use more mature elements in your fanons, and that isn’t bad. However, the overuse of those elements can be jarring and pull the reader out of the story. That was my only complaint, though; every other part was done incredibly well.
Who should read Whispers of Tempests? Anyone who is a fan of MibuWolf’s previous endeavors—and even those new to her fanons—should definitely read this one.
