I know no one wants to hear this but: The Equalits are right.

They live in a society where you are defined by your nation, what nation you are in is a direct relation to your bending persuasion. Those without a bending ability are not part of any of those nations. They are just.... there.

They live in the city, but do not have any representation in the council. Water benders have two representatives but non benders have none? Thats not right. They are part of the world and need to have representatives to make choices for them.

Benders have a natural advantage over non benders and for a long time they have exploited that. This goes all the way back to the 100 year war. Fire benders had a commanding advantage over the non benders, and they almost destroyed the world as a result.

We also only know that story at this moment. There could have been a non violent movement that failed years ago and these guys are the product of such. Its the same way with the US Revolutionary war. The Benders simply want to be treated as the benders, and to not be afraid of them. This seems a lot like what the people in the colonies would have felt in the 1700s. They tried non violent means, but when they did not work they turned to violence.

And really, has Amon done anything THAT BAD? The worst is that he tried to take Bolin's bending away, but he did not. The ONLY reason that Bolin was even in position for that to happen is because he was working for criminals. He was a bender who was using that talent to commit crimes, and that is how Amon saw him. We know different than to think that Bolin is a criminal, but Amon would have no way to know that. One could make the argument that they destruction of the Pro-Bending stadium is wrong, but its just a political statement. I see no difference between that and the colonist throwing tons of tea into Boston Harbor in 1773. He did stun those metal bending cops, but this as well is well in the realm of normal behavior that will take place during a political movement.

I could be wrong about all this, and its just some thoughts that I have about the situation. All I know that if I lived in that world, and I was a non bender, I would be the first to sign up. I would not hate benders, which is what Korra may think, I would just not want to be helpless to them.

I have changed my origal opnion, becasue of points made on here and just from thinking about it a little more.

I still belive that the princable of what the equalists are fighting for is right. I belive they are not truly represnted in the council, and need to be. I belive they should obtain this though peaceful means.

I do not belive that Amon's actions are justafied and I do not think that he should be taking bending away. I don't think that most of the actins done by the movement are right, but I think that others are acceptale. I think that Chi blocking is a useful took for non benders to know to protect themselves.
