There is...once again...so much to say.
Tarrlok is the perfect politician - Double the ambition with a sixteenth of the foresight. This of course does not mean he isn't a mainpulitve planner (as can be seen with his apperent control of the press). Plans and foresight though are two very diffrent things that work best together...but are rarely seen together. Amon certainly seems to understand this... he knew what would happen if he acted on "taking the avatars bending" right then and there. It sounded to me that if he did such he felt (or perhaps even "knows") that doing such would kill the avatar. A martyr...but is that in death of her - or just the ability/spirt?
Then there is Asami Sato who - in just the few hours of her formal and official introduction of the series- the mere mentioning of her name causes those of you who enjoy playing "connect the love dots" between Mako and Korra to hiss. How charming. I suppose its all part of the fun...so I will leave you to it if you are so inclined to do so. That said...the ease of it. The... "Oh I feel so safe in your arms". Its all so sudden. The whole "run into thing by accident" and all that....I mean....ugh... I have to say it...

Why is Aang angry?
What happend 42 Years ago?
Presuming I have done the arthmitic correctly the event transcribed in this episode occured in 128 AG.
This is 28 years after the end of the events in Avatar: The Last Airbender & 25 years before the birth of Korra. Add in Korras current age of 17 and you get 42 years ago.
That is quite a time span
And this is just the first of many glimpses into this timespan.
But how? What did Amon hit to cause such a glimpse of the avatar spirts past with the mortal mind? Why did this effect occur?Was it Amons touch, or just the location of the jabbed touch?
What ever the reason its important.
As classic as it is it remains true...History repeats itself. What we need...no...what Korra needs to know is what happened in the past.
Why did Aang order the white lotus to protect the next avatar?
My guess is Yakōne.

Did Aang make a mistake when he ordered the white lotus to protect ...**!**... to protect Korra (the next avatar). This in effect gave cause to never learning by simple necessity - to stand on her own two feet. So when she is confronted by manipulation, intimidation, & fear she has no idea what to do ...it shows so blatantly that sharks come for the easy blood with great power. She is the stepping stone instead of the mountian.
So as a result of the past the city shall be Korras trials. Her guru will be the world of avatar.
Perhaps this is why ...somehow... the efforts of the past avatar always become undone so that they can prepare the next. It is the cycle of Balance and Chaos. She has seen fear... so if we go by the order of chakras... Guilt is next. OH! Look at that... the next episode involves team trouble.

P.S. - The forth individual whicn you can see in either this video or this .gif whos eyes are the only things you can really see... I think is Yakōne.
Oh..and one more thing. Yea. When I saw this... I got chills too. ^_^ Also that "floating water snake" like animation that occurrs befor the raid was impressively well done. Mad props to the animators for that one.
