| — Korra to Jinora about her relationship with Kai |
Hi everybody. I don't think that I got any suggestions last week so I went with Kainora. Feel free to suggest more ships if you'd like.
Kainora[]
Kainora is a canon ship that was introduced in Book 3 and started off rather quickly. Kai was first revealed in the leaked episodes and before it was revealed that Harmonic Convergence created more airbenders, he was seen airbending. Many fans speculated that he might be Bumi or Kya's son since he could airbend. However, a scene was shown and Jinora blushed at him which proved this unlikely. The fans eventually learned about the many new airbenders and that Kai was one of them.
Jinora seemed to take an interest in Kai as soon as he joined the group, but Kai seemed to be more interested in pulling scams to steal from people. However, he was captured by the Dai Li and learned his lesson. Jinora was eventually able to find his location through their special connection and they rescued all of the airbenders, including Kai. She kissed Kai on the cheek and he blushed. While they were training at the Northern Air Temple, Kai encouraged Jinora to ask Tenzin about receiving her mastery tattoos. He also risked his life to help everybody escape when the Red Lotus attacked. Jinora and Kai were officially dating by the start of Book 4. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see them interact at all due to Kai only having lines in the first episode.
I like Kainora, even if it felt rushed. I was not going to immediately jump aboard the ship just like how I didn't like Bopal right away. However, when I saw their positive interaction in Original Airbenders, I finally started to like them together. The main reason that I was hesitant was because I was not sure if Kai really liked Jinora in a romantic way since he cared more about running off and stealing from people at first. There is also the fact that Jinora was only eleven years old at the time which is pretty young for a serious relationship. I will admit that I was a little surprised to see their relationship last for over three years. Maybe it's just destiny.
Pros[]
- Jinora's love for Kai was unconditional and she easily forgave him for his thieving past and attempting to run off multiple times.
- Kai has a great admiration for Jinora and is very supportive of her. He encouraged her to try and get her father to give her the mastery tattoos.
Cons[]
- They might have been a little young to be in a relationship. Jinora was only eleven years and Kai was probably not far from that age himself.
