|"Haru! It's so good to see you!"|
|— Katara to Haru.|
Hello everybody! For this week's ship of the week, I decided to write about Harutara, also known as Karu or Kataru. Seriously, what is the most common shipping name for this pairing?
I really have no idea which pairing I'm going to write about next, so please feel free to leave suggestions.
This ship is not very popular, despite that it was at least somewhat suggested, at least more so than Zutara. This is probably because most would rather ship Kataang, Zutara, or even Jetara. However, it still does have some shippers and was even parodied in "School Time Shipping" and Toph also poked fun at it. It became popular early on in the series during the one episode that Haru was originally in. Katara saw a lot of promise in Haru and encouraged him to embrace his earthbending instead of hiding it. Haru was thankful of everything she did and told Katara that it was her and not the coal that saved them. The two met again way later before the invasion and they were happy to see each other. However, Katara eventually ended up with Aang and eventually married him.
I kind of do like Harutara even though I am primarily a Zutara shipper. It has just always intrigued me. I feel like it could have worked if they both actually gave it a try. The two have enough respect and admiration for each other which is why I feel like it could have worked. Granted, while neither of them were ever shown to have feelings for each other, I still got this vibe and felt that it was at least implied that one might have had feelings for the other. I wouldn't be that surprised if Haru had a crush on Katara at one point.
- Haru and Katara have a huge amount of respect and admiration for each other and they enjoy each others presence.
- Katara ended up with Aang, making this relationship impossible.
So what are your thoughts on Harutara? Please feel free to comment and thank you for reading this. While it is okay to compare other ships, please keep discussion centered around Harutara. Also, feel free to let me know what you'd like to see next.
