Author's note: For the younger editors reading this, the title of this piece (and the quote above) is reference to a blog I wrote more than three years ago (some of which I have shamelessly plagiarised) when I was a new, baby-faced user. How times have changed.
I have a beard now and everything.
There have been a number of instances in the past few weeks that have led to some intense discussions and interactions between users, interactions that have sometimes become unnecessarily hostile. In light of that, I wanted to write this blog with some tips coming from my own experience as a user here that I hope people can take on board, and maybe help alleviate some of this tension. I will preface this by saying that these are not intended to call ou…

The Cabbagies are now closed. Thank you to everyone who contributed. Catch you next year. :)
Welcome one and all to the third edition of the kind of annual Cabbage Merchant's Completely Irrelevant Category Awards, otherwise known as THE CABBAGIES. We took a break last year as I was in the middle of a six month trek through the Amazon (lie, totally a lie), but we are back this year with a vengeance. However, this year is more than just the third Cabbagie Awards, it is also the 10th anniversary of when this wiki was created. Welcome to the very first Cabbagie Awards Results show, hosted by those facilitators of foolishness, those composers of craziness, and .
[Cheers of adoration from the audience. People faint at the mere sight of their awesomeness.]
For the past week, we have been asking you to come up with the craziest, most out-there nominations you could, and you have done exactly that, with more than 300 comments and over 200 nominations being made (seriously, don't you guys have anything better to do with your time). Unlike ordinary award shows, it is up to you to come up with the craziest, most stupid nominations you can, and the best part is, if you nominate someone, they're automatically a winner. You can nominate anyone you want for an award; your mom, dad, dog, cat, that guy down the park with a baseball bat. Who cares!!!! One exception to this rule though: clowns cannot be nominated at all due to the fact that they severely creep out one of t…Read more >
Working together is success. I spent quite a long time trying to find a quote that matched what this blog is about, and not only does the quote above do that, I think it corresponds to the wiki as a whole very well. This wiki is a collaboration, founded on the basis that several users working together can create something greater than they could working alone. This should be the very cornerstone of what happens here, and yet it seems that isn't the case.
I've been here a while now, and spend quite a bit of time on the wiki, and I have seen more and more users being overly protective of their own edits. Simple disagreements between users have escalated into edit warring and a barrage of insults being thrown. Is this the environment we want …
