A kickstarter project to fund The Legend of Korra: Pro-Bending arena boardgame has started. Here's a link to the project, which as of now, half an hour after launch, has about $8.5k of its $25k kickstarter goal promised.

The Legend of Korra Pro-bending Arena box

The box for the game.

The rules of the game are explained on the kickstarter website, but mainly focusses on using strategic cards to place your characters on the pro-bending board in order to secure a victory for your team, with dynamics that change up as you play the game.

The game stars the Future Industries Fire Ferrets against the White Falls Wolfbats in a pro-bending match taking place during Book 1. Play as the Fire Ferrets, Wolfbats, or upcoming surprise characters who will be announced as the kickstarter progresses. The campaign holds no stretch goals currently, so once the game is funded, it's funded. Each copy of the game is going to cost $65.00 USD. This blog will continue to update to include what happens.

Thoughts on the project

I was initially very excited for the prospect of a Legend of Korra board game, but I can't say I'm too enthused. I feel like the price is a bit high for what it is, and there's other parts of the kickstarter that rub me the wrong way. For more on my thoughts about the kickstarter, check out the next edition of the Ba Sing Se Times; I'll be writing an article about what I think of the project.

Regardless, I'm interested to see where the game will go, and what's added to the project. I'll update this blog each time more is revealed and once the kickstarter reaches its goal (which at this rate it seems very likely to do).

If you're one hundred percent certain you want the game regardless of its price, I'd suggest contributing to the kickstarter now to insure that you get a deluxe copy of the game which will only be available through this kickstarter.
