The name, I mean.

Coming late to the party, I'd read about the series here and elsewhere before actually seeing the series and hearing how things – names especially – were pronounced. Accordingly, my 'reading voice' was talking in an asianesque fashion, "Ong", "Soe-ka", . . . and "My." After watching the program, I was able to shift to the proper pronunciation on everyone, except Mai. After years of reading romaji and pinyin my brain simply refuses to see anything other than "My" for that combination of letters. Why, oh why, couldn't Brike come up with Mei for their acerbic teenager character's name?

And while I'm on this soapbox, I think the tattooed woman should be Jun, not June, but at least my brain gets her name right. DesertDog (talk) 15:15, January 27, 2012 (UTC)
