Sozin's grandfather

Sozin's grandfather painting

This unnamed Fire Lord is Sozin's grandfather and Azulon's great-grandfather. This Fire Lord's portrait depicts the ruler in traditional Fire Lord attire, although the robes are slightly less ornate than the robes seen during Team Avatar's lifetime. Like all other Fire Lord paintings, the unnamed Fire Lord is shown firebending.

The Fire Lord is surrounded by what appear to be flowers at his feet. Located behind the man is a large design resembling a flower's petals. As with all of the other Fire Lord portraits, the sun is painted directly behind the ruler's head. In this particular painting, the sun appears to be behind the darkened shadow of the moon.

Yes, he is. As the show showed us with 5 different portraits, it could be like this: He is the first Fire Lord. If I am right, so Fire Sages aren't really ancient for being the Fire Nation ruler. Let's counting their ages:
  • 35 AG - Iroh is born
  • 20 AG - Sozin's die in age of 102; Azulon ascends the throne.
  • 82 BG - Sozin is born.
If Sozin's father has his first child in... Let's talk about 40 years old, so Sozin's father should born in 122 BG; and same applies to his father: 162 BG.
If my math was right, the last time Fire Sages reign the Fire Nation were in 162 BG. And, the lifetime begin.

The beginning of the world is within 200 BG, *I guess* so it could be he's also take a big part of creation of the nations. I think he's one of best firebender in the world; also is befriend of Fire Sages--and they choose him for be the first Fire Lord.

Sozin's father

Sozin's father painting

This is the portrait of the unnamed father of Fire Lord Sozin and grandfather of Fire Lord Azulon. The Fire Lord's attire in this portrait is very similar to the robes of his three consecutive successors, namely Sozin, Azulon, and Ozai. Unlike the previous set of attire, these robes contain more ornate gold trimmings. Sozin's father is also firebending in his portrait.

An image of what appears to be a star behind a waning moon, representing the four cardinal directions, is depicted in the Fire Lord's left hand, with a similar symbol located at his feet. The portrait also contains many clouds and portrays a red sun behind the Fire Lord's head.

More gold; new era. The fashion style was upgraded, and will be kept until 3 generations. In his portrait, nothing could be a mystery.

Star behind a waning moon : It could be he's clever. I think he take a big part of history and astronomy in the World of Avatar. Also, I think he's a nice, friendly, and wise person, as in Roku's teenage-life, there are a lot of parties and the attendants are not only from Fire Nation. And, the dark sun. It could be the first coming of "Day of Black Sun", where the black-history of Fire Nation occurred.

Sozin

Sozin's portrait

The official portrait of Fire Lord Sozin depicts him as he appeared during his first confrontation with Avatar Roku. The aging ruler has hints of gray in his hair and beard.

Sozin is shown with a scroll in one hand and a ball of fire in the other. Above his head is the representation of the Great Comet that he used to wipe out the Air Nomads, beginning the Hundred Year War. Located at Sozin's feet are five firebending members of the military. Behind his head is a bronze sun.

He has been crown in his middle-age life; it looks like his father has a long-lifetime. In his era, as we know, he's the first leader of the War against the other 3 nations.

Scroll: He's really a ruler; with a lot of rule. I think the scroll depicts his rule and his conquer-style. Ball of fire depicts his awesomeness of firebending. As we know, all of Fire Lord are the strongest firebender alive. The great comet depicts his comet; later called "Sozin's comet". The numerous firebender below his feet are the first generation of skilled-firebender who're helped himself to conquer the world.

Azulon

Azulon's portrait

Fire Lord Azulon's portrait represents him as a far younger man than he is just before Ozai's rule. The sun behind his head has a black outline, while his attire is exactly the same as his father's, with the exception of a new gold lining on the piece of his robe that hangs from his waist. The sun behind Azulon's head appears to be blocking out the moon.

I noticed that Azulon's portrait has a lion turtle below the Fire Lord. I think he's the first Fire Lord who's started the genocide of Lion turtle, dragons, and several creatures. Azulon has a black-bordered sun, it could be depicts his dark-history.

Ozai

Ozai's portrait

Finally, we're here!

The final portrait in the hall, depicting Fire Lord Ozai, is the most ornate of all the paintings. Ozai is shown bending black fire and has multiple metal cogs and smokestacks behind him, representing the advancements in technology and industry pioneered during his rule. A large red-and-gold design is painted behind Ozai. Like all of the previous portraits, Ozai is depicted with the sun behind his head.

Black fire: His daughter has a blue-colored fire, and also he is very rapacious. The fire depicts his power-hungry and the metal cogs represent the booming prisons and factory here and there, such as Jang Hui.
