I was not initially a fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender when it aired, but this isn't entirely my fault, as I live in a family which never watched a lot of TV. I had seen ads and snippets of episodes at friends' houses and while babysitting, so I knew of the show, but I had no idea what it was about or if it was any good. That all changed on May 1st, 2010, when a friend decided to show me and some other friends the first three episodes in a shameless attempt to get us hooked (thank you, Palmer, you will always be my ideal of the hardcore fan and we're still going to make that live-action movie once you get back). Needless to say, it worked, and I immediately bought all three seasons and settled down to watch. Two exhausting days later (I did still have school), I sat down and reevaluated my life, and finally decided that this was going to become a pretty major part of it. I only recently joined Avatar Wiki because I wasn't aware of it beforehand, not because I was resurrecting my fandom in anticipation of The Legend of Korra. Believe me, I have been quite a consistent fan since my introduction to the series and I will continue to be so in the future!
Honestly, I'm still quite new to this, and I have a lot to pick up before I become a decent editor. Mostly, I correct spelling and grammar and rewrite sentences to make sure they are as clear and logical as possible. I'm definitely going to screw up or offend someone from time to time, so please understand that I really don't mean to. I'm here out of an earnest desire to make this wiki the best it can be, in order to give everyone the best information possible about this show.
I'm a student attending high school in northern Virginia, but I'll be going to Brigham Young University in Utah next fall, where I plan to study anthropology and linguistics (that's part of why this show appeals to me so much!). I run cross country and winter track, and play lacrosse in the spring. During the summer I work as a lifeguard and camp counselor, and I spend my free time-- who am I kidding? Ok, if I had free time that AP classes don't give me, I would do a lot more horseback riding, writing, and drawing. I do find time to study languages, and I'm currently working on German, Turkish, and Japanese (which I learn from books, I doubt I'd have time to watch much anime). I am also (if you didn't guess already from seeing BYU up there) a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or a Mormon.
