"A Leaf in the Wind"
The first season second episode come attached to one life lesson: be the leaf. That's what I've learnt from this episode, and so did Korra with both her first airbending class and pro-bending match. In her first breakfast at Tenzin's our Heroine is getting used to what's life in the big city like. And that's when enters the new sport: pro-bending, which is composed by matches among three opponents from different bending natures (except the Air one.)
After Korra's first attempt to walk through the spinning gates, so she could click the airbender moves ability, she finds herself into a deadly spot of failure. And due to that and the lack of freedom she felt at being into constant vigilance by the Air Acolytes and the White Lotus sentries, she flees in the middle of the night to the Pro-bending Arena where she for the first time met Bolin, and his brother Mako, both respectively an earth and a firebenders of the Fire Ferrets (a fresher team of pro-bending with a good reputation by their winnings.)
Having watched the team played the match and contratulated both Bolin and Mako, the brothers finally discover that Korra is the Avatar. Next day training keeps on being hard on her back, and so on behalf of not being able to manage the right moves through the circling gates, Korra loses her temper and explode everything with her firebending.
That's the moment of the life lesson this episode carries. Because Korra hasn't been like the leaf, and left her short temper get in control of her actions.
At night Korra finds out that Hasook has left the guys' team and takes his place as a Fire Ferret waterbender. Even after being discovered as the Avatar, what makes Tenzin fly to the pro-bending arena, and almost get Korra out of there, she finally gets the click of the airbending moves and together with the boys, the three of them win by knockout. Making us watchers see Tenzin "WoHoo" at their victory.
Back in the Air Temple Island, Korra apologizes to Tenzin, and so does he to her. The episode finishes with both Mako and Korra staring at the lights of the city at night.

Positive points:

  • Be like the leaf: This episode teaches us that even the hardest of the situations we may find ourselves in, if we adapt, we can have a more comfortable confrontation to our adversaries.
  • Strike to what you believe: It has also the lesson that, if there's something we desire truly from the bottom of our hearts, we must follow our intuition.
  • There's always an answer to a problem: Even on the darkest times, on the most difficult ones, every problem has a solution.

Negative points:
