Welcome to my user page. Many thanks to AL, now IsabellaLover, for showing me how I could create the templates to clean this page up a little! Another special thank you to Minnichi for drawing and allowing me to use the image I have as an infobox image. Min, you rock!
Okay, long ago in a small country far far away, there was this man that fell in love with this woman. Their love was so beautiful and true that it transcended above all else. And after a first try (I have a brother), something incredible happened: a daughter was born (that's me, yeey!! *waves banner*)
But okay, let's tell the story of how I became a member of this wiki. To cut straight to the chase, a bus crashed into my car during the summer of 2010, really, no joke. Unfortunately for me, I was driving it at that moment, so the accident totally screwed up my left foot, preventing me from playing sports and running, which I totally loved to do. Since I was sports-grounded, I needed to find something else to keep me busy. I don't know what exactly I was looking for, but I stumbled upon Avatar: Wanted and started reading it. It was such a great story that I kind of stuck around after that. Around the time the story ended I decided that I truly wanted to become a part of this community and started to edit regularly.
Well, wouldn't we all like to know who we really are and what our place in the universe is? I could tell you all about the universe and reveal its secrets to you, but then again, isn't it much more fun to find out yourself?
So I will therefore limit my introduction to telling you something about myself.
Where to start, where to start.. Ah! I am a huge Avatar fan! Ha, you totally didn't see that one coming, now did you? What, you did? Tss, don't go running around just yet spreading the word that you have psychic powers. I admit, you might have seen that one coming since we are on the Avatar wiki... But let's not linger on details, moving on! I bet you can't do that twice. Did your psychic powers also tell you that I am from a small European country named Belgium and that my native language is Dutch? What, they did? You... you... you just read my info box!!
Pfuh, you think you're so clever, don't you? Well, let me try again to enlighten you with some new information. Unless you really have psychic powers... In that case, you can just stop reading here.
Seriously, you already know what's coming.
Still reading? All right then, don't I feel important right now?
Okay.. Now what was I going to say? Oh, right! I'm currently writing a fanon story myself *Points to the link above*. I started making up my own story in.. 2005 or something when I read my all time favorite book "River God" written by Wilbur Smith. I fell in love with the setting, the characters and the story of Lostris (hence my nickname and I've used that name ever since I needed to give a user name somewhere ^^ ). I just started to make up a side story using many of the characters of the book and some new ones. When I discovered Avatar, well, the two just started to blur together to form a new story, "Heiress of the Nile". It is only recently that I decided to put pen to paper and you know how things go when you start to write things down: everything changes.
The story is a combination of River God meets Warlock (another novel of Wilbur Smith and a follow up story of River God) meets my own wicked imagination meets A:TLA meets whatever show/movie I like (yes, there will be some Disney references. I'm 24 and I like Disney, sue me.) The story will take place in Ancient Egypt where every Nation will have its own province, the Fire Nation being the biggest and most important of all (I like firebending, what can I say). The main character will be Lostris - NOT ME, I'm absolutely NOT writing a fanon about myself, I am not that egocentric. Like I said, the story is partially based on River God where the main character -which I totally adored- is named Lostris. Heck, most of the names of the main characters are based on Wilbur Smith’s Egyptian novels. In my story, Lostris is the daughter of Fire Lady Amanra and the late Fire Lord Tamose, making her the Crown Princess of the Fire Nation. She's also a firebender, but the Grand Vizier Naja wants the throne for himself. He can be compared to Ozai, same high skilled firebending abilities and ambitious goals, but he is more subtle about it. As her guardian, he succeeded in minimizing Lostris' firebending training, so that when it would come to a duel for the throne, he would have the advantage. If you'd like to know more, well.. stay tuned :-)
Now, why Ancient Egypt you may wonder. That is a very valid question and the answer is very simple: I love the Ancient Egyptians. I find their whole culture absolutely fascinating and marvelous.
Since my fanon isn't set in the Avatar universe, all my character will be new. There is, however, the chance that I was lazy in picking names and that I have "borrowed" some character names from the A:TLA series, but even if that is the case, the character has no link to his/her A:TLA counterpart.
The main characters of my fanon will be:
Lostris
Seraphine - one of my favorite characters to write.
Tanus
Meren
Taita
Naja
For those who have read the books my fanon is inspired by will notice that many of the names are "borrowed" from Wilbur Smith ^^.
This is a one-shot rewrite I did from the last minutes of "Endgame". Why? Though I love Avatar and I like The Legend of Korra and all, that finale was total crap and lacked any form of feeling. Seriously, I cannot watch that ending without still cringing upon hearing the most hollow "I love you, too" I have ever heard in a series. Makorra, come the fuck on, where the hell is the love? The feeling? The heart? So for those reasons, I decided to rewrite that ending to fit my favorite pairing. It's the only pairing that would've actually worked if you look at the characters and the feelings they have etc, so enjoy the ending of Endgame once more with feeling, Korrasami-style ^^
I tried to stay as close as possible to the series how it actually happened, recycling events and dialogues etc, but just give it that extra touch of feeling, drama, and heart.
Yeah, yeah, Book One: Air of The Legend of Korra was really heavy on the relationship stuff, but in my opinion, it lacked some genuine sweet scenes if they wanted to go for a romance overload. So I decided I'd give it a shot ^^. Of course, loving scenes can only be written for characters that have actual feelings, so this is a Korrasami one-shot that shows a short scene of how well the waterbender and the Sato-heiress feel each other. Speaking is silver, silence is gold is sometimes the best motto ever.
So you want the juicy stuff? My my, a bit nosy aren't we?
But okay, since you've made it all the way here, I guess I can tell you some things. My favorite color is red, my favorite number is 3, favorite animal is a tiger and my all time favorite element is fire. How's that for random info?
Proceeding with random thoughts: seeing that I'm from Belgium and my native language isn't English, I would like to apologize for possible grammar and/or spelling mistakes. Feel free to constructively point them out to me, so I can correct them and learn.
Katara and Zuko are two of my favorite characters, but your psychic powers are wrong, I am not a Zutarian, I love me some Kataang and Maiko, staying true to the series, baby! Although, when it comes to The Legend of Korra, well, Mako is an ass, so I'd rather see Korrasami than anything else.
These are just some alphabetically ordered, random thoughts on fanons I'm reading or have read, and have distinguished themselves one way or another for me - please do not ask to have your fanon added here. For a complete list of fanons I've read, see below.
This darker and more serious fanon has everything of TAD's trilliantness written all over it. While touching some heavier themes, she never fails to wrap them in a blanket of powerful wording and excellent writing. As always, she knows how to deliver a masterpiece of a fanon, which is definitely worth reading
Powerful; amazing; awe-inducing; inspiring. These are the words that immediately come to mind while reading this pre-War story, originating from the talented hands of someone who aspires to be -and undoubtedly will be- a widely-celebrated author someday. Syra and Siro, the Air Nomad girl and Fire Nation boy who will steal your heart.
What? How did this get here? Who put it there? *twiddles thumbs while tooting her own horn* A story heavily inspired by "River God" by Wilbur Smith, I combined elements of the Ancient Egyptian culture with the Avatar World and hoped to create a story full of drama, action, and a smudge of romance to top it off. It's still a work in progress, and will be for quite some time, but I am determined to finish it.
This one-shot follows Katara during the death of her husband Aang and the days after. Needless to say, it as filled to the rim with emotion and sadness, but at the same time it is breathtakingly beautiful. Recognizable and true, this fanon will reach into your heart.
This 20-chapter long fanon revolves around the backstory of Tengu, one of Wanted's most interesting characters. Masterfully written, it is a certain promise to be worth your while, even if you haven't read Wanted.
Since I am shamelessly advertising my own stuff already anyway, check out my rewrite of "Endgame". I tried to stay as close as possible to the events that happened in the series, though I added some feeling and heart to the end paring as I though it should've been. Please read "Endgame with feeling: how it should've ended, Korrasami-style."
I have no shame. Though overloaded with shipping and an attempt to romance, I found that Book One: Air seriously lacked some true romantic scenes. I admit, this one-shot it a bit mushy, but I though that our two favorite TLoK heroines, and then especially the emerald-eyed one, could do with some sweet romance. Speaking is silver, silence is gold.
I know this list is rather long, but I discovered these (and many more) wonderful fanons while participating in ARG's Fanon Trivia. If you stumble upon this list and you feel like there is a certain fanon missing, feel free to let me know and I'll add it to the list.
This user totally ships Korrasami cause they are the only two characters with a personality that would actually work in a relationship. They compliment each other perfectly and provide ample room for growth like it should. They have hearth, they have class, they have a feeling, they are the ultimate TLoK ship..
This user praises Asami for her wonderful personality. She lost everything -her wealth, her heritage, her family, her cheating ass of a boyfriend who basically was stolen by her supposed friend- but regardless of all the hardship she was put through without ever getting something in return, she never lost her smile and her loyalty toward the people that do not deserve her. She is an amazing, resilient, and beautiful person.
This user has Korra as her favorite character of all time: an amazing, kickass, sassy girl with great spirit. She has the best of Katara and Toph combined, yeah, she definitely rules -however, it should be noted that this is before she met Mako, then she became a wet rag -_-.
This user thinks Katara is totally awesome: she's just the right combination of toughness and still being girl, caring, funny, and just all-round amazing.
This user cheered Mai on during the "Boiling Rock".
This user would like to say to Ozai :"Dude... Not cool, not cool at all. Just. Chill!".
This user thinks Azula is totally awesome, but could benefit from some anger management classes.
This user thinks Mako is an ass for treating people the way he does, especially Asami. He is a teacher's pet that can get away with all sorts of crap without ever having to face the consequences and he get things thrown in his lap for no good reason. Though he has the ego to size of the world, he lacks the stuff to back it up. The only great this Mako had after Book One: Air was the potential he has to become a great character, too bad he didn't actually became one.
This user would trade her bike and car in a heartbeat to ride Appa instead.
This user wants Momo as a pet and would teach it "fetch" better than Katara.
