  • After (or during, I can't remember) LoK Book 4 there was a family tree that got released and we found out the name of Unalaq's wife. I think it was Malina.

Do we think this character in the comic 'North and South' is or has any relation to the character from Korra? It's very possible, but she'd have to be very old in Korra.

    • I think she is. I believe that this is the comic that set's the stage for later events in Korra Book 2. I'm pretty excited about, plus Book 2 is one of my favorite Korra seasons.

    • I doubt it's a simply a coincidence that they have the same name.

    • Malina, Unalaq's wife, is from the Northern Water Tribe. Malina in the upcoming comic is from the Northern Water Tribe as well. Too big of a coincidence if you ask me.

    • Malina could be related to Unalaq's wife. Or the name could be common in the NWT.

    • Again, that'd be too big a coincidence.

    • What would be a coincidence? The name or relationship?

      Both.

    • "Malina" is probably a common Water Tribe name. It's also possible that Unalaq's wife was named after the character in "North and South."

    • Korra takes place 70 years after ATLA, which means if i were the same Malina, she'd be very old by now. Unalaq's Malina is the mother of his twins who are in their late teens. Unless Malina somehow remained young all those years, she couldn't have children that young, so it can't be the same Malina. If i had to guess, the Malinas are probably related but not the same.

    • I already knew they couldn't be the same person. I don't really care if they're related or not, rather I want to see what kind of person she is. From the way they talk, she' gonna be all kinds of trouble.

I think they're setting Malina up as the false antagonist.

    • She's old enough to have squint lines—and apparently be carrying on with Hakoda—as of the first volume, so I guess that settles that.

      Probably.
