  • if Aang had not disappeared into the night on the "mysterious island out of nowhere", would Team Avatar's battle plan be to try and break into the Fire Nation and hopefully try to unlock Aang's chakra in hopes of defeating the Fire Lord?

    • Not the chakra, it was the lion turtle giving Aang the knowledge and power of energybending, as Aang was an Air Nomad, he was not a natural fighter. Killing is a positive jing, whereas Airbenders are normally negative jing. (earthbenders are neutral jing, but what are waterbeders?)

    • if Azula in her dimented state found out Aang had mastered the Avatar State, would that make her cry further having failed to defeat Team Avatar?

    • During what point in her demented state are you referring to, the time when she imagined that she spoke to her mother, when she was defeated by Katara or some other time?

    • when she lost to Katara.

    • No, at that point I don't think it would make her cry further . I believe that her mental breakdown at that point was so severe that she might not even fully care/understand what happened on places other then her close vicinity, either that or perhaps she realized/felt that if she lost, then everything would go bad and Aang would most likely master the Avatar State. Finally, my last guess is that she wouldn't care about Aang mastering the Avatar State, because it is not nearly as bad as losing an Agni Kai to her brother and a waterbending peasant.

    • Specially to her brother, someone she always despised, and considered herself to be superior. Something that actually, she was, prior to her slow descent and breakdown.

    • Well, Zuko did also improve his firebending abilities and his mental strength which, in combination with Azula's breakdown, helped him surpass his sister.

      Yes.

He was finally, at "peace" with himself. therefore he was as resolute in battle as Azula was on the second season.

Azula was firstly introduced as a smart, calm and cool person, that always uses intelligence and strategy in battle, instead of brawn and sheer force, as Zuko did on the start, and Zhao.  When she lost that factor, she was handicapped.

The mind is a factor that, when overlooked, leads to severe strategy faults in battle.

A broken morale, is most often, a lost battle.

    • Gotta give credit to Katara for using a pretty good strategy of her own to beat Azula.

    • Referring to the initial questiong, it is very hard to determine exactly what their plan would have been. Zuko seemed to have a pretty in depth knowledge of the battle plan for the air ships and the comet invasion. My best guess is zuko would have helped devise  plan where the team gets into the fire nation under cover, has to right through minimal guards and whatnot, and tried to intercept Ozai before he boards the airship, depending on when they actually get into the fire nation. If they get there that much before the comet, it may be trying to fight Ozai in the palace. Hard to determine exactly where they would have tried to intercept him.

I do not think that they would have tried to open Aang's Chukra though. Katara had been working with it for a while, healing and unblocking his chi flow. It seemed pretty strongly closed, and in the whole second half of the season they barely even brought up the fact that he couldnt go into the Avatar state. Probably not something they would have focused energies on for long.

    • Why wasn't Azula gonna let the gondola carrying Chit Sang, Hakoda, Suki and their rescuers leave? Was she gonna try to force the gondola back to the prison, or destroy it?

Sneaking in to the Fire Nation Capital would be very tricky because of the huge number of troops there. Moreover even if they managed to sneak in to the palace they would still face Ozai on his own turf where he could have lots of hidden traps and a readily supply of troops. Except for this I also assume that even if they defeat Ozai he would still try to launch his airships which would force Team Avatar to hunt for Ozai's airships before they get launched. However Team Avatar especially Sokka and Zuko seem to be very crafty and could probably come up with a good plan.

Regarding the if they would restore Aang's chakra I agree with you that they would probably not try to do this.

"Why wasn't Azula gonna let the gondola carrying Chit Sang, Hakoda, Suki and their rescuers leave? Was she gonna try to force the gondola back to the prison, or destroy it?"

Since Azula put some of them in the prison the first time she captured them, I assume that she would try to put them back there, but if that wouldn't be possible then she would most likely kill them.

    • would Hakoda, Suki and Chit Sang wanna thank Mai for saving them?

if it hadn't been for Mai, Azula would not be the vegetable she is now.
