Can anybody explain me what the quote "Instinct is a lie, told by a fearful body hoping to be wrong" means?
Can anybody explain me what the quote "Instinct is a lie, told by a fearful body hoping to be wrong" means?
It's about acting without thinking or letting your instincts/preconceived notions cloud your judgement. I remember seeing someone explain it using a fire analogy. Supose humans were scared of fire, and their instinct would be to stay away from it to avoid harm(like other animals do) we wouldn't be able to see how fire can be helpful for a civilization. We can get good things from things we believe are bad, but only if we can go past our instincts.
So:
"Instinct is a lie(this is just your fear talking and it isn't helpful), told by a fearful body(fear of harm/death clouding your judgement) hoping to be wrong(have no idea what that is)."
That's my take on it. Zaheer even explains it saying "It means, that when you base your expectations only on what you see, you blind yourself to the possibilities of a new reality."
"Do not trust your eyes, they can deceive you" comes to mind.
Like Zaheer said, it's about expectations. Simply broken down, humans do not want to risk what they know for something that could potentially harm them (fearful body); one must move past the point of relying on instincts and into the greater realm of the mind (it's a lie); and some small part of you wants everything to be good, from both a selfish and non-selfish standpoint (hoping to be wrong).
This comes to mind: https://youtu.be/MnK_IS7idZc?t=290
Essentially, relying on ones instancts can cloud judgement or stifle action when it is most needed, to not really on instinct but experience and the mind is much greater.
When someone goes to hit you your instinct is to flinch and clinch for impact, a fighter trains themselves to instead dodge or block and follow with a counter
Perfect. Thank you, people!
instinct is a lie told by a fearful body hoping, to be wrong. "
definition given by zaheer "when you base your expectations only on what you see, you blind yourself to the possibilities of new reality"
from my aspect it means
"when you base your expectations only on what you see, you blind yourself to the possibilities of new reality"
when you read a quote, and it hits to the depth of your heart,
and you make it base of your expectations.
but it isn't right,
this world is creation of large numbers of fragments and of fantasy. there is many things that a human body can do and it is beyond of our imagination that isn't achieved easily. like in the era of guru laghima, human body can fly was a myth and it was only possible into the children tales
but guru laghima achieve the ability of flight in the sky. "we blind ourselves to the possibilities of new reality" we believe only what we see, but it doesn't mean those things we never seen doesn't exist and it is not possible to do.
