  • I guess the Fog of Lost Souls is basically the Avatar World equivalent of DC's Phantom Zone. Like the Phantom Zone, the Fog of Lost Souls is where the worst of the worst are banished. In addition, the Fog of Lost souls is the only place worse than prison.

    • Not clear what the question is. Yes, the Fog of Lost Souls is the quintessential prison, and yes, it is designed to contain the people who have committed the gravest crimes.

I was asking if the Fog of Lost Souls is the Avatar World equivalent of the Phantom Zone from DC.

    • the fog of lost souls, in my opinion, is like the 9th and deepest circle of hell in dante's inferno. For people who REALLY screwed up.

    • Heh, thread necromancy is strong on this forum. Might as well answer, though, since the thread's already been bumped up.

The Fog of Lost Souls is similar to the Phantom Zone, but there are definitely some differences:

      - The Fog of Lost Souls is in of itself a spirit within the Spirit World, while the Phantom Zone is an entire dimension separate from the universe Earth resides in.

      - While the Phantom Zone may eventually break your soul and spirit by allowing you to watch life on your home world go on without you, the Fog actively messes with your mind to try to do so almost immediately.

    • The Fog doesn't seem so much for "the worst of the worst" as specifically for people who have somehow transgressed against spirits.  (Which, considering spirits are essentially the fey from the less twee sort of faerie tales, could very well include actions which would normally seem fairly innocuous.)

I mean, not saying Zhao and Aiwei are the nastiest customers in there.  I'm saying that they might not necessarily be representative of everyone in there (much less the least nasty); spirits, after all, are alien and fickle.
