  • Since Korra defied the Earth Queen's threat, she is very likely on the Earth Kingdom Military's kill list. As if she didn't have enough problems already.

    • Perhaps among the Dai Li, but not the overall Earth Kingdom. At the end of E4, the Queen announces Korra as an enemy of the Earth Kingdom but not all are going to go by that

Its clear an majority dont like the queen, as shown the "bandits" who tried to take the peoples gold back from tax collectors. He tells the avatar shes on the wrong side

    • What about the military? They do serve the Queen, so they probably have to follow through with stopping Korra.

        Loading editor
    • Well that maybe so, but here is thing Zaofu is a private estate the size of a city and we know that Su isn't happy with the current way of the monarchy so no problems here. And well I feel that the Queen isn't really funding the military yet she is building up a private guard for herself making me think that we may get to see some types of assassins after Korra unless the Queen learns of Zaheer in the next few episodes.

    • I bet Zaofu might get involved with a revolution against the Earth Queen, as all the people like Gombo and his gang do.

    • Remember, the Earth Kingdom hasn't changed since Aang's time, being one of extreme poverty, corruption and overall disunity among its provinces. Omashu and Kyoshi Island don't seem to answer to the monarch at all, and Suyin expressed dislike for the Earth Queen so I doubt Zaofu would take orders from her either. Even if Hou-Ting threatened Korra about receiving the full force of her kingdom, I believe only her forces in Ba Sing Se would actually do her exact biddings.

    • it seems to me that the earth king/queen only has any real influence in BSS. in other places, like omashu, there seems to be some local leader in charge that people listen to.

I would agree that the threat would mostly be from Ba Sing Se and the military directly under the Queen's authority, and not necessarily the whole kingdom since there are some places like those already mentioned, that have some measure of autonomy.

On a slightly different note, does anybody else think that the Earth Kingdom monarchs need to be put in their place every couple of generations or so? I mean, Avatar Kyoshi vs. 46th Earth King does come to mind.

Also, it seems Huo Ting is continuing the tradition of rulers looking ridiculous after threatening (and/or openly attacking) an avatar.

Knowing Zaheer, he'll make the Earth Queen think she's using him and his gang for her plans for the United Republic of Nations.

But they'll probably double-cross her later on for their own plans for Korra.

Unless Korra convince them that what they're doing is wrong and should decide for themselves what they think is right for Ba Sing Se.

I'd agree. I think that while Zaofu would disagree with the current regime, it is not in the people's interest to stage an open revolt against the Earth Queen. The people in Zaofu tend to want to be left alone in order to "live to their fullest potential". That being said, I do not doubt the people of Zaofu are well capable of fighting once a revolt does happen, but for them to be instigators of one is a bit improbable in my opinion.

Korra doesn't need to "act like an avatar" to make Hou-Ting look ridiculous. The running joke about her sneezing when animals are around is enough. HAHA

I really hope not! Zaofu is gorgeous. But it may be possible :/

Don't think it will be destroyed, its made of metal. In the trailer when Zaheer breaks in, p li is shown fire bending but nothing gets ignited or broken

Zaofu is probably the most well defended cities in the whole Bending World! I mean at night did you people not see the giant metal petals covering all the buildings of the private estate/city. Ba Sing Se at this point is the second most defended city in the Bending World. Also I'm more than sure that all those metalbenders that live in this private estate/city are more than capable warriors. Korra and the gang were welcomed by guards in metal armor as well as a human lie detector, Su knows that she needs this to keep her private estate/city save.

    • Lol, what's the Dai Li and Ba Sing Se's forces do? Throw boulders at the metal city?

That would be stupid. Zaofu seems like a rather weathy city (a lot of Beifong money probably goes through the place). That city could be a lot of precious tax revenue for the Queen.

Then I don't see her enforcing the tax on Zaofu.

    • Su owns the city but she isnt enforcing anything on her people, or atleast nothing that people are complaining about

Shes seen as a leader, not a Queen

        Loading editor
    • It could be quite possible that the city is "under the radar." The government or the Queen probably doesn't know that there's a city; They just know it as the patch of undeveloped land.

Besides the part that she is the owner of the land we really don't know of the government of Zaofu. But she could be the only person in control or maybe we have the only sample of anarchy in the Bending World.

    • I'm sure Suyin had to cede some ownsership in parts of the city as people moved in. I have no doubt she leads the city.

She could have made everyone part owners, she's renting some of the land or maybe none of the above.

    • Zaofu is designed so that even the Earth Kingdom military can't attack it.

As for the Earth Queen, now she has poachers that hunt endangered or rare animals! She is way worse than Zaheer and his Legion of Doom. Plus, sending poachers to attack sacred animals on Air Nomad Territory Would be an act of war. I picture at some point, the Earth Queen will lead an invasion against the Northern Air Temple

Kinda pointless since the Earth Kingdom military has earthbenders that can also metalbend.

    • Didn't Mako break up with Korra because she "kept messing up the world" and supposedly starting wars between the Northern and Southern Water Tribes? Isn't that what she's kind of doing in this season also, in regards to the Earth Kingdom? Because the Earth queen said that the whole nation is now against her. So why is Mako supporting her endeavors if this is the very thing he broke up with her over?

Who says Mako fully supports her on this? If anything, Mako has been reluctant to go on these kinds of adventures since the season began. Recently, he's been trying to stay out of trouble the whole journey.

Well I don't remember that and after his brother pushed him to go on the trip, which was just to find and encourage those new airbenders to become part of the new Air Nomands; Ba Sing Se's airbenders were not seen so after some digging around they find out that they are getting conscripted to be some kind of praetorian guards for the Earth Queen, I mean would you not help these new airbenders?
