Anyone else interested in the Lion turtles?
I lot of things were buzzing in my mind about them lately.
1. I was wandering does the turtles have power of a particular element or they are just the ultimate energy benders. The way that the turtle that taught Aang energy bending looked the same as the way the other turtles were teaching the people to bend particular element when they were off in the spirit wilds. Also the fact that they can give and take away the bending seemed a lot like energy bending but somehow really advanced one. If my thoughts are truth then this solves the discussion under the threat "Animal bender teachers", "Can anyone be bender". If the turltes are just the ultimate energy benders this means that all the living things just bend the energy they posses, but some have the affinity to do it easier (benders), and some have the affinity to particular element. Which affinity can be genes or something. If the turtles can teach anyone bending this means that the bending itself is not a limited ability but more like harder for some easier for others and its all about blockades in your energy system.
I remember that the turtles in the "Story of the first avatar" had markings on their heads but this may as well be just liking to the particular element, or simple affnity as well. Maybe the one turtle find it easier to teach waterbending and other firebending.
2. There was a threat about this but I want to start it over: Do you think there were turtles who could bend more than the four famous elements? As we saw mostly from Unalaq, there is something like bending spiritual energy. Do you think that there could be more bendable elements? Life and death bending? Light and darkness bending?
While Im going there lets go deeper. Guru Pathik taught Aang about the seven chakras. Because Im really a spiritual guy in real life I saw great resemblance between the physical chakras in real life. Although in the last few years it was discovered that there are 13 physical chakras, the similarity between the first 7 (the 6 additional chakras are above the seventh) was stunning. The creators seemed to have really made a reasearch about it. So if they make reference to the chakras and real life energy system why not transfering more of it into the cartoon.
Here are the classical seven chakras and their resemblance to the elements
In the philosophy of the seven chakras there are correspondences to the five elements as shared by both Hinduism and Buddhism as well as two other elements:
- Sahasrara (Crown): Time/Space/Cosmic/Universal
- Ajña (Third Eye): Nether/Dark/Shadow/Death
- Vishuddhi (Throat): Aether/Light/Life/Lightning/Electricity/Energy
- Anahata (Heart): Air/Wind
- Manipura (Navel): Fire/Heat/Flame
- Svadhisthana (Sacral): Water/Ice/Snow/Steam/Fog/Mist
- Muladhara (Root): Earth/Plants/Rock/Soil
And lets continue with the discussion...
First of all. Although it appears that only firebenders use lightnings this is actually different element. This IS energy bending and seems that just firebenders have more affinity to it. As you saw in the case with Zuko, not every firebender is capable of making a lighting (Iroh told this to him actually). Also as a proof Ill use the fifth (throat) chakra. Life, energy, electricity stays there. Why shouldnt it be connected in the world of the anime as well?
Second of all. As you can see with my refenrece to the chakras with the elements my suggestion of existing light, darkness, life and deathbending looks valid. Also there can be bending of cosmic matter which can be the ultimate bending, because cosmic is actually reference to the fabric of the univerce. Basically this can mean that whoever can bend cosmic matter is literally a god. Or the opposite? The god of their univerce is a bender of cosmic matter? Also with cosmic at the seventh (crown) chakra stays time. We get into the quantum physics here because space and time are basically the same thing if you break the speed of light, but lets not get THAT deep. Why shouldnt there be a way to learn timebending as well??
Tell me what you think about it.
