When searching Mako's apartment, Lin says that she "has to follow up on any leads". Remember that the Triple Threats, criminals, are thes one who gave her the tip. But when Mako, a cop...one of HER cops, comes to her with info about the firebending member of the Agni Kais he saw fleeing the bombing at the Southen Water Tribe Cultural Center she dismisses him and demeans him, calling him "a rookie beat cop, not a detective". How messed up is that?
I'm really starting to hate her and I don't like the way she screamed, "How dare a rookie beat cop intterupt MY meeting with the President?". The title and power may have gone to her head.
Heh yeah this series has been having a way of making it out to be the children disappoint their parents, huh? *win*
They've been making a lot of mistakes. This really does seem to be one of them. She was a very stand-up cop in the first season. Yes she was hot-headed as heck, pulling Korra into the office right away, but ... she wasn't wrong; and was getting straight to the point/source of the problem.
Here...she's basically not doing anything. All for the sake of making Mako the hero. Nice writing. Very.
Yep, they really just sort of seem to have scrapped/ignored Lin's characterization from last season >_> Her whole entire demeanor and treatment of Mako and the whole investigation has been nonsensical and really just rather stupid, in all honesty. Lin's mischaracterization is the whole entire reason why I hate the story arc revolving around Mako and exposing Varrick's misdeeds.

A lot of characters are being screwed over for the sake of the story that the writers want. Most notably Korra, Mako and Lin. People complain about how disrespectful Korra was to Tenzin and how rude she was to Mako. Mako has become pretty rude, too, most notably to Bolin.
I like Mako's characterisation so far, he's definitely become more interesting this season (I never disliked him in the first season but just found him uninteresting). And I think his rudeness can be attributed to the fact that he's under a lot of stress.
As for Lin.... I can only hope that they offer some kind of plausable explanation for her behaviour this season (maybe she's secretly investigating things herself and doesn't wish to inform others of this).
I really like Korra's personality post-Beginnings. She seems far more calm, focused and polite. Definitely a step up from how she was pre-Beginnings.
I feel like she's just being overly catutious or paranoid, because she doesn't want to make any mistakes. I It's like how Asami can't just turn against Varrick, because he's her business partner and a huge man in business, which she needs, since her business just fell.
To be honest, Lin was already proven she has the capacity to fail miserably in some of her deductions. Remember, she was outwitted by Amon during the pro-bending championship finals, and her mistake with Mako proved her flaws more.
