I wonder how the buildings were built under the cliff's edge? Earthbending perhaps?

Either that or the Air Nomads carved it while gliding/flying/wall running/etc. 189.32.152.173 13:39, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

The template says this temple was built in the Northern Fire Nation mountains. How is this possible?: There's a whole chain of Air Nomad islands north of the country. Isn't that the true location? Could someone clear this up for me?76.24.145.157 18:50, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

That info comes from nick.com, which is a reliable and verifiable source. Omnibender 22:58, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

What exactly does it say on Nick.com, because if you look at the map it is on an island that is Air Nomad territory.

I think I got it why we're having this location difficulty, and I apologize, I made a poor selection of words to describe the temples location. Text from the site as follows: Located in the mountains north of the Fire Nation, the Western Air Temple was home to the female Air Nomads. But like its brothers to the north and south and sister to the east, this temple has been deserted for the last hundred years, thanks to Fire Nation forces. But unlike the other temples, this one is built upside down. Its spires hang down from the canyon's overhang, making it hidden to the passerby. The temple features some interesting recreational spots, such as a giant Pai Sho table, an all-day echo chamber, and an air bison obstacle course and racetrack. Its design allows wind to flow into even the deepest chambers, which made the Air Nomads feel quite at home. I should've used north to instead of northern. My bad. where does it say that the east and west were nuns and north and south were monks? im not doubting it i am ust being nosy.

along with that is there any place that says what the purpose of the upside down temples on the ceiling of the cliff hold? 121djn

It probably says that on Nick.com somewhere. Although in Episode 3 it shows only males at the Southern Air Temple.

8th Mizukage 00:55, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

yeah but thats weird that they seperate the males and females because then how would there be any more air nomads left (if the fire nation hadn't destroyed them 1st of course). --121djn 22:28, 8 August 2008 (UTC)121djn

Information on that comes from nick.com and the interviews from Mike and Bryan, you can check then at Avatarspirit. Omnibender 15:44, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

oh ok thanks for that --121djn 21:45, 10 August 2008 (UTC)121djn

The temple construction[]

In friendlier times way back when, perhaps Earthbenders built it for them, or even an Avatar Air Nomad who had some time. If the Sun Warriors could build big temples for themselves, why not?User:PhantomS 15:43, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Origin of Temple[]

Alright, before I ask this this question, I would like to apologize to Zero as this may be considered as restarting a dead conversation, however it's important and has not yet been answered. How does a nation of air nomads create this wonder of a structure? They posses no bending abilities that can build a temple upside-down. My guess is that before the war, the nomads were at peace with the other nations and asked the earth kingdom to help them. Anyways, the point is that some speculation as to how it was built would be helpful, because it is very likely I am not the only one confused here. Alex101313 - Talk 01:34, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Well, wind currents cause erosion in mountains, so they could have used incredibly powerful Airbending moves to "carve" the temple, and since they can fly, even if with the glider, that could have given them more freedom of where to "carve". Omnibender - Talk 21:15, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

I remember the creators saying in the commentary for "The Western Air Temple" that the Air Nomads probably used Earthbending contractors to build their temples. Mind you, they were half joking, but it's still a very probable explanation, and may even be canon. Puragus - Talk 21:21, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Possibly. Alex101313 - Talk 22:15, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
