Possible name inspiration[]

The two names Raava and Vaatu sound borrowed from the phrase "Klaatu barada nikto", an iconic phrases from the sci-fi classic "The Day the Earth Stood Still", which has been referenced in numerous other media. Vaatu is pronounced and spelled very similar to Klaatu, while Baraba is similar in pronunciation to Raava. Just thought it may be a good point to bring up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MJTR (wallcontribs) This note was added on 01:14, October 19, 2013 (UTC).

Vaatu's Tree[]

Have we seen this tree before? I am sure that it has similarities to Koh's tree.--FossilLord 01:29, October 19, 2013 (UTC)

Unalaq and Vaatu[]

Am I the only one who thinks that Unalaq's goal is to unleash Vaatu or even worse; combine Vaatu's energy into his physical body?! Something smells fishy about all this. --Tannerv95 (wallcontribs) 04:14, October 20, 2013 (UTC)

I hope not! Unalaq would look so scary I would scream my head off! – Healer144 (wallcontribs) 04:21, October 20, 2013 (UTC)Healer144

It kinda makes sense. Unalaq is power hungry and going after Vaatu wouldn't be a completely unreasonable thought. I agree though. That would be pretty freakin scary. --Tannerv95 (wallcontribs) 05:23, October 20, 2013 (UTC)

Where Amon got his powers[]

Did Amon get his powers from Vaatu? Amon said he got his powers from the spirits. Also, it seems like Vaatu could have been looking to destroy the Avatar before the next harmonic convergence so that he would be unstoppable. I'm trying to look for evidence that he was behind the other antagonists, but can't seem to find anything. He may have been manipulating the other antagonists behind the scenes and only took a direct role with Amon. {{subst:unsinged|Bktaylor}}

The wooden carving with Wan[]

I just looked at the scene where Jinora finds the carving of Wan, and I noticed the carving has details on the spirit that come from Vaatu. We should make a note of this Hadrimon (wallcontribs) 12:08, August 23, 2014 (UTC)

Regeneration?[]

I have a big question entailing if this guy is actually dead or not. It's nowhere on the page, so, I'd like a little clarification.

Okay, it's stated that neither Raava nor Vaatu can ever fully destroy one another. If one loses, they simply slowly regenerate inside the other for the next 10,000 years. They need one another to survive; it's stated and showed; there's no denying that fact.

Okay, so, when Wan and Raava fused to make the Avatar Spirit, it was purely Raava; Vaatu wasn't dead, but rather just imprisioned, so the Avatar spirit was 100% Raava and pure. Still making sense.

Only, later on when they're separated and her and Korra re-fuse, Vaatu is then *dead*, so, technically, he should be inside Raava at the point they fuse, meaning, he's also now a part of the Avatar Spirit.

So, how is this going to play out then, I wonder? In another 10,000 years, will the new Avatar have a major light and darkness issue inside themselves? Did Korra purifying Vaatu rather than *killing* him negate his regeneration?

Or; this is most perplexing; it's stated that if an Avatar is killed while in the Avatar State, the cycle is broken and he dies. I'm assuming that means Raava too... so, since Vaatu was fused with Unalaq and was then *killled*, does that mean his cycle is over, and he's dead-dead? Of course, I don't see how Raava could still exist if that was the case. I'd assume that if the Avatar was ever killed, Vaatu would die alongside.

So, it has to be one of those options. He's either still alive, dormant now inside the Avatar, was purified so he doesn't exist anymore (doubtful, as all evidence supports the reverse), or is dead-dead because he fused with a human (again, how, if Raava is still?). So, I'm leaning most towards option 1. Tommy-Vercetti (wallcontribs) 19:42, November 23, 2014 (UTC)

This sentence in the introduction pretty much details what happened to him:
As a result, Vaatu receded into Raava and the Avatar, where he will continue to grow stronger and eventually break free.
Hopefully that answers your question. HAMMEROFTHØR (wall) • 20:55, November 23, 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. Ugh, how did I miss that? They could actually do yet another series 10,000+ years based just on that plot, actually. Tommy-Vercetti (wallcontribs) 21:11, November 23, 2014 (UTC)
