Former wife meaning his wife and him arent together Daniel 00:54, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Where was it ever said that Ozai was 43? Where was this info gotten from? Funhomework 18:22, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Why did some stupid n00b also protect this page. Grow some balls and unprotect it.

Question[]

Does anyone know what the thing that is placed on a fire lord's head is called during coronation, it was seen twice during Ozai's and Azula's coronation, so it may deserve it's own page. Thanks. Joey - Talk 04:40, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

While that object has never been named on screen, I think that using the Crown Prince Headpiece as an example, we could call it Fire Lord Headpiece, either that or we could move the Crown Prince one to a general Headpiece page, and list the occurring headpieces on the show there. Omnibender - Talk 16:07, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

or its a crown.--Guyver92 (wallcontribs) 12:09, April 30, 2015 (UTC)

Blocked[]

Why the heck is this page blocked? I can't even edit it, and I'm a user! What's going on, it's ridiculous. I need to fix a mistake and I can't. --SuperFlash101 19:26, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

The latest mass vandalism had this page targeted, and since the vandals were always registered, they'd bypass the usual block unregistered, so we needed to block registered users as well, to be on the safe side, don't worry, the protection will expire. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 20:57, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

When, because I have a few edits I need to do but can't because I'm not a sysop. --SuperFlash101 00:06, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

January 9th at 23:00 UTC, but if it's something urgent, any sypop can lift the protection. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 01:10, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

And besides. You can state the errors here and we can fix them. Zero - Talk 10:23, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Firebending[]

Should Ozai be removed from the Firebender category, after his loss of bending in the finale? 99.2.196.205 04:25, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Not really; I mean, it does make navigating to this page easier. Wjxhuang, the 888th Avatar {Talk} 12:01, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

avatar[]

in the first episode Iroh said Ozai and the preceding fire lords looked for the air avatar, but as far as we know Ozai only set foot of the fire nation country in the final battle Mutantkingmagneto 04:50, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Cult of Personality[]

Would it be okay if I were to add a cult of personality section to Ozai? The man basically centered Fire Nation life all around him with his statues, portraits, plays, etc. It might be an interesting section. All the world's worst dictators are bigtime egotists. Tell me what you guys think.Fire Eater 06:40, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

While it does happen, we can't add it if we don't know if Ozai was the responsible for a part of them, he may have gotten into Fire Nation's citizens' heads, but unless he ordered them to make these numerous references to him, I'm not sure we can. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 19:45, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Well, you do make some valid points. All those posters of Ozai to which the Fire Nation citizens salute and recite the oath are probably customary regardless of Ozai's input. However, he had quite a few statues of himself worldwide. There was the statue in Fire Fountain City and the statue of him in Omashu. He could very well have ordered their construction. It does seem that others participated in this, as Azula renamed Omashu after Ozai and the Boy in the Iceberg play glorifying Ozai.....

I don't know. Maybe you are right. I just thought that might be a good section since these cults of personality are common among the world's worst: Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, Saddam, Khomeini, it just seemed fitting at the time. But now I'm not too sure. Anyway, I appreciate your input. Talk to you later.Fire Eater 20:56, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

New Image[]

I think that the current infobox image doesn't do Ozai justice. I perceive infobox images as if they were ID card photos. Absence of movement is a determinant factor, and my suggestion portrays Ozai in his most typical self. If there are no objections, I'd like to make the change. ― Thailog 21:17, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

While I agree with the static argument, I like that the current image shows that Ozai is a bad guy, the image you put forward kinda loses that. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 21:21, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Why would absence of movement be a determining factor, when both images are equally clear? They both show off Ozai's face, they both show him sneering in his evil-ness. The only difference is that the one we have now is more dynamic. Sorry, but the one you propose just falls flat and looks boring to me. Puragus Talk 21:25, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Omin: Ozai's lack of emotion is just a characteristic of his personality, much like Azula. He has very few moments where he displays emotion through facial expressions. If anything, lack of emotion shows his as a "bad guy" as much as his sneering.
Puragus: It's a determining factor for me, because of the way I perceive infobox images. It's not fact, it's opinion. Dynamism is something that doesn't look good (IMO) on infoboxes, especially when you have the entire article to showcase the character in action. ― Thailog 21:33, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

I respect your opinion. However, it's my opinion that the one we have now is just fine, and in fact looks better than the one you're proposing. I'm not saying that a dynamic image is automatically better than a static one, but a more interesting image can be better, because the infobox image is likely the first one the reader will see when they come to the article. If the image is more interesting to the reader, it may make them more inclined to read the article. Puragus Talk 21:46, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

I actually like Thailog's image better. He looks evil, yet confident and self assured. Honestly, I like to think of profile images as textbook images, and this one looks like it would be in a textbook or painting much more than the current one. So, I second the motion of changing the picture. Vaznock - Talk 22:22, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Shall we vote on it? ― Thailog 12:51, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Quote[]

I actually liked the quote OTORI edited better than the current one. Would it be all right to keep that one? --Tophvision 21:10, October 16, 2009 (UTC)

I don't mind quote changes, as long as their good and the change is properly discussed first. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 22:46, October 16, 2009 (UTC)

Age[]

How is Ozai's age known? And that of characters like Iroh, for that matter? By the way, since the wikia update, it has become a lot harder to find the talk page. Warship (talkcontribs) 00:54, December 15, 2010 (UTC)

Ozai abused Azula and Ursa not just Zuko[]

Corrupting, spoiling, favoring and having high expectations of a child are emotinal abuse. Not to mention separating a mother from her children and the incapability of truly loving the children are emotional abuse too. Azula's relationship's with her mother was damaged because of him.

Kaizen1 (talkcontribs) 23:01, December 28, 2010 (UTC)

i disagree as it was admitted by Ozai that he was a good father at one point, the point being before the letter Ursa wrought. corruption depends on your point of view as Azula was not spoiled as she did do things herself and except her defeats. Ursa trying to hurt Ozai was what caused him to neglect Zuko as a matter of honor and really if Ursa was abused she would have poisoned Ozai a long time ago. i would say that well he did except perfection he new perfection took time to create and was patient with Azula. when it comes down to it its all about about your point of view.(that sounded really Jedi like at the end) opps forgot to sigh.--Guyver92 (wallcontribs) 12:02, April 30, 2015 (UTC)

New picture for Ozai's profile[]

We need to change the image for Ozai, and here is why:

For the first 40 episodes, Ozai was a figure in our imagination, talked about fearfully but never seen. This served to increase the menacing aura about him. In the first episode of Book 3 his face is finally revealed, and it turns out that he's good looking! He wasn't mean looking, or angry, or worried; I love that beautifully serene look on his perfectly symmetrical face. I love the fact that the show's greatest villain seems to be at peace. His beauty and his serenity make him that much scarier! That moment where he is first revealed is not only one of my favorite moments in the series, but one of my favorite moments in anime.

In the current picture, the one that shows him on the front of his airship, he has a determined looking and much uglier expression that detracts from his aura; it makes him merely another character, instead of someone who may be nearly a God. To be honest, I am a little disappointed with the show's creators for not sticking with the powerful, calm, and God-like Ozai.

I vote that we change the profile picture of Ozai to the confident and serene head-on look I posted here. Does everyone agree that this is an improvement?

P.S. My computer does not give me any licensing options to choose from. Can somebody assign this pic the appropriate license for a screenshot?

thumb|Ozai, book 3 episode 1

In general, the images we use on this wiki are not out of dimension. They can be cropped, but the cropped image must fit the original TV screen dimensions. Unfortunately, this image, chilling though it may be, is out of dimension. Actually, people have been calling for a change in Ozai's profile image for some time. In my opinion, the image posted by Thailog further above on this talk page is appropriate. The 888th Avatar (talk) 11:14, January 3, 2011 (UTC)
Aside from its dimensions, this image does not exactly provide an accurate and typical representation of the character. He almost looks docile, which Ozai is everything but.
888, per my conversation with Water Spout, we need to decide how to handle profile images replacement and make it a policy. There must (/should) be consistency: if we need a ballot to replace certain images, then we should do it for every picture, but we need to account for the fact that some people just don't care enough to get involved in the voting, and proposals die away. ― Thailog 14:45, January 3, 2011 (UTC)
There was a policy, all the way from before I was an admin here. That policy was designed to stop votes from occurring from every other week by forcing at least three users to enter the discussion before a vote could be put up. I can't remember why it was removed later on. In my opinion though, if no-one cares enough to post on the talk page, and the person who wants to change a profile picture has already tried to start a discussion, then there should be nothing impeding that user from changing the profile picture. We may require a broader discussion on this - a blog post, or a blog post linking to a forum thread. The 888th Avatar (talk) 00:13, January 4, 2011 (UTC)

There is no info on Ozai's main page[]

Why Lady Lostris?--Surprise the fun loving pony (wallcontribs) 21:14, September 23, 2015 (UTC)

I can see the content OK. Have you tried refreshing the page? When something like this has happened before, I've found that refreshing or reopening the page can fix the problem. HAMMEROFTHØR (wall) • 21:43, September 23, 2015 (UTC)
What exactly is the problem? Because per HoT, I can see the page fine and would suggest doing the same as he suggested. If the entire page appears blank to you, though when you click the edit button you see the entire content, then you can also try making a blank edit (which is an edit where you just click the edit button and then publish without making a change). Was Ozai convicted of war crimes?[]

I agree that Ozai has committed war crimes, but is there any official source that says that this is the reason for his arrest? He may be incarcerated because it is Fire Lord Zuko's will, the Avatar simply said "Ozai will be imprisoned here and whoever's in favor, good, whoever's not in favor, oh well Romerlrl (wallcontribs) 04:19, June 29, 2017 (UTC)
