Please excuse any of my attempts to edit on Katara's main image, I just thought that headshots/portraits of the character were the best types of images to use in the infoboxes. General Iroh 01:50, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

My only concern with your edits are that some of the images are outdated, we're trying to keep the characters with images of them of book 3.

Katara's main image has been replaced countless times in the past few months. Can't we settle on one image? ENOUGH EDITS! I say we display an image of her in her Original Water Tribe attire, considering that used to be her trademark. Once that is done, PLEASE STOP REPLACING HER IMAGE. Thank you! I notice that Katara's picture got edited again. This one shows one of her angry pictures from The Southern Raiders. I may be being picky, but I think we should restore the previous image of her, which is the Katara 07 picture above. That picture is more reflective of her kind-hearted nature, the side we prefer to see. Offense better be intended because it said on the page not to edit her picture and his excuse was that he was updating it for the third season, and since everyone voted against having seperate profiles for them for each season the character profiles need to be stuck to first season pictures like it was agreed felinoel ~ (Talk) 01:11, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

There's the video at youtube [1]. There's something odd with the pronunciation, but the transcript over at ASN [2] lists her name as "Kya". Omnibender 01:04, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

If Katara is Hakoda's daughter, then that would make her Princess Katara. It is unknown why she is not royalty.

The Chiefs of the Northern Tribe may be chosen from a bloodline while the Chiefs of the Southern Tribe may be democratically elected. Perhaps that is the reason behind the missing titles. Zero 02:37, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

well you wouldnt really have to pin point her date of birth it was stated at the start of show that she was 14 after the war was over a year had passed since that statment so therefore she has to be 15 dosent she.

Okay Sozins Commet was at the end of summer and Aang was freed sometime in the fall of the year before. Due to Katara's saying in Book1 Chapter8 Winter Solstice part 1 Avatar Roku that it was a few weeks since they were at the Air temple which was very receceently after Aang was freed. This means that the show probably started mid to late fall. So therefor a year has not passed from Book1 Chapter1 to Book3 Chapter21. WaterDragon 15:34, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Why was Katara's main image changed. I perfered Katara 07.png, in this new pic she looks upset and really unattractive, someone should change the main image back.

I was here when the agreement was made, the reason it was made was because the same editor kept changing the picture over and over again, and to pictures that didn't display her well, such as when she was disguised as the Painted Lady, the agreement was never on from which season to use the picture, if that was the case we could never use the current picture for Zuko or Sokka. The only discussion on season differences I remember is whether should there be separated subpages for the character history, (Katara Book 1, Katara Book 2 and Katara Book 3 for example) just like they do at Heroeswiki, and that's the only decision made about the characters' articles when it comes to the seasons. I liked the image Puragus chose, and I do agree that it's not the one that better represents her personality, maybe an image from her at Ember Island would be good, it would be an updated picture and it would show her personality accurately. In my defense, I did what I did partly for the reasons Omnibender outlined: the user who kept changing the pictures was gone, and I didn't think it was an issue anymore. My mistake, I should have posted on the talk pages before I changed them. I liked my Katara pic because I thought she looked tough and fierce, which is the side of her that I feel is prominent, but I guess other people thought she looked too angsty and unhappy (same goes for the Aang pic). Though I stand by my changes for the Sokka and Zuko (and Momo, way back) pics, I should have talked things over and pooled options with other users before changing every pic to a season 3 one.

And I'm sorry felinoel, but there was never any agreement anywhere that said all the profile pics had to be from season one. Sokka and Zuko's pics were both from season three. Frankly, I'm offended by your comment above to the anon user that he better be offended by my changing the pics. Though I understand I made a mistake, he shouldn't be offended by someone trying to improve this wiki, and neither should you.

I dont think so. If that's the point you'd like to raise then let me remind you of the youtube vid links on the Escape from the Spirit World Page. They're not present on any other pages too. Did I miss something in one of the episodes? I was under the impression Katara was only 13. How do we know she's 14?

The only reason your edits on Katara's Page were reverted was because, even though from your edits it appears that you are studying psychology, you did not have the data to be able to make the necessary psychological deductions that you did. For that you would have to have both a case study and Naturalistic Observation. Impossible, since Katara is a fantasy construct. Seriously. The Basic Rule of attitude study is that attitudes are a poor indicator of the person. Dont you know of the story of LaPiere and his travels with the chinese couple? You are a poor psychologist if you forgot that. That is the reason why your edits were reverted, you oversized jerk. Guys, we must take this into perspective. The anonymous IP address' edit may have completely valid arguments. However, not everyone (certainly not me, I'm just a high schooler) is studying psychology or something other at university (or college), and cannot therefore understand the meaning of various jargon words. This article's usage must stay within a reading level designed for the general public. Also, the way the IP address reacted to a single edit revert is unacceptable. Editors for a wiki must understand that their edits may be overwritten at any time. Exactly my point. The guy crossed the line. However, I read his arguments... In my point of view they didn't match katara at all. Furthermore, it was too complex for the normal mind. Plus there were my above stated reasons. But that does not give that person the right to post what he did. So I gave my opinion. Note I did not use caps. I made strong valid arguments. Yes. I agree completely with The 888th Avatar. As for Zero, very nice argument. Except for the "you oversized jerk" part. You must control that temper. I was impressed at how you stated your opinion without chewing him out or coming across as an authoritarian or a dictating admin. I felt really good at how professional and how calm you were during your, I suppose, speech. But, you spoiled it for me with the oversized jerk comment. There was no need for that. If we keep telling users things like that, nobody will want to be part of our community. I am begging you, Zero, please refrain from using insulting words. It's perfectly fine. I just don't want people to think that our community is harsh and insulting. I know it gets very aggrivating sometimes, we just have to stay calm. As most of you may know, we did recently change the main image for Aang and Sokka to images from book 3. So then I thought "why not for Katara?". If somebody would like to upload a gallery of new book 3 Katara images then we could have a vote and we could change it. And I would upload the gallery myself, but I don't have the most experience with images. I'm going to suggest the same thing for Toph and we'll see where we end up! Thank you! There is room for one more image, if someone uploads one or puts one there. We had the same maximum of eight images for Sokka's as well, so as it doesn't go off on a tangent (except for Alex's fake ninth picture, for which you actually thought you'd get blocked for putting?). Picture 1, definitely. After all, this was her new identity for much of book 3. Also, I think Picture 6 would also be good as a secondary image. As you know, Katara retooled her Water Tribe hairstyle and donned some nice battle gear in Book 3. This was also a cool change of style. This is very interesting. After a short period of time - a week or two - we might need a round two for ties, because it is looking like a possibility. Since she's Water Tribe, I think the image should show her with her WT outfit, I like 4 but I don't like her expression in it, and I think 6 is too bright, so my vote goes for 5, if we get an image just like that, but without the top of her hed being cut, I go for that one. I've been noticing that Katara is stealing Aang's thunder at waterbending. I mean he is the avatar so how come in Seige of the North she had mastered waterbending while aang had not

Do not add Bloodbending as a fighting style at her infobox, we list it for Hama cause she uses it whenever she can, we don't list Katara cause we don't list sub forms of bending (Hama being the exception as explained) and Katara used it only twice. Hama said that Bloodbending is so powerful it can only be used on a full moon, now I didn't see the whole episode so I'm not entirely sure, but in The Southern Raiders, when Katara uses Bloodbending, is it a full moon? If not wouldn't that mean Katara has surpassed even Hama, which probably be mentioned in the article? -xNaminéx

Since we're on a splitting frenzy lately, is Katara's personal history going to be three new articles in pre-100 ASC, spring 100 ASC, summer 100 ASC, or is it brief enough for one article? I'm pretty sure it's the former. Lenga-chan 00:10, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Nobody ever said it was anything like that. A User Group is just a way of organizing the goals for a specific group of pages. It's a way of saying "Okay, we're working on Aang right now. His history articles need a few intros and there should be summaries on his main page, but once we're done with that we can move on to Katara!" Katara was the target of the Southern Raiders in the raid that killed her mother. You guys realize that if Katara had been discovered that day, Aang would never have reawakened and the war would likely have been lost? In a very strong sense, it was Katara who saved the world, as she returned to the world the one hope it had in stopping the Fire Nation. She and her mother both saved the world in a sense on that day. Is that worth noting anywhere in this article? I couldn't help but bring it up and I think it greatly emphasizes her importance in the series (Not that she's not, don't get me wrong).Fire Eater 22:34, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
