[edit] Combustion Man Isn't a firebender!
71.63.153.119 03:28, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Yes he is, go to Nicks official Avatar website, select The Beach and read Combustion Man's profile. Omnibender 22:07, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Is He really dead?
Perhaps not. On the Brazilian preview for the boiling rock, there is a tall, muscular man who has the same type of clothes. He also has short dark hair in the exact areas his shaved hair used to be. If he were captured, it would make sense that he would be placed in a high security prison (very powerful, but loyal only to money). I don't think we have seen the last of him.71.63.153.119 03:28, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Of course we haven't. There was an ambiguous explosion and no body. Personally, I'll be very surprised if he really turns out to be dead.
Thats what I'm saying, but the article claims he was killed. I think this should be removed until it is confirmed.71.63.153.119 20:23, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
It's not him in that preview, if you pay attention, we can see the prisoner's forehead, and there's no tattoo there, Combustion Man has a very distinctive tattoo, and the prisoner doesn't, ergo prisoner isn't Combustion Man. Omnibender 21:02, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
I disagree. The forehead shot only shows about an inch of his forehead (as it rolls back) and the other shot is too low quality to show his skin colored tattoo.71.63.153.119 20:21, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
- That wasn't the part of the trailer I was talking about, but since you mentioned it, I took a look, and if you pause the video at the right moment, you can clearly see that the persons forehead is just a bit red, no tattoo. The part of the trailer I was talking about, it's when you see him sitting in some sort of prison chair, you can see him very clearly there. In this trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ogNWXQ_Mr8 the part of the trailer you mentioned is at 00:05, the part I mentioned is at 00:09. See for yourself. Omnibender 21:29, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Anime characters all look like each other. There have been a number of examples of character designs being similar or recycled over the course of Avatar. (See the "Things I noticed" thread over on AvatarSpirit.) I don't think that a split-second glimpse of a similar-looking character is enough to judge. Wait for the episode to air. —Robotech Master 21:00, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
I understand which part you are talking about. It was the part that I think is too low quality to judge (the guy is almost in the backround on an already low quality video). He also had his forehead "blow up" so who knows what it will look like. I identified him more by his large stature (unique to his character) and his hair pattern. Also... the guy in two separate shots in a promotional commercial, and he was not a fire nation prison guard. I think he may be significant.71.63.153.119 05:38, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Okay the guy's not Combustion Man, but he's most likely still alive and will come at the heroes at some point.
Then what about affirming neither cases: say that he is "presumably deceased", it says he might have died, but it leaves it open for both scenarios, if he doesn't show up, then we change to say he's dead (which I think he is, he played his role in the series, which was get Zuko in the gang). Omnibender 15:21, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- He kinda was in the center of AN EXPLOSION! Seriously, no one can survive the epicenter of an explosion followed by a fall who knows how far down. Besides, his missing hand is kinda a "nudge nudge". —Preceding unsigned comment added by MetroidVeteran (talk • contribs)
But wait, suppose he were alive. We definitely saw his arm and leg fall off, right? If he were still alive he would either a.) have new metal limbs, possibly even additional metal limbs to replace the ones he lost in the explosion or b.) he is missing an tons of body parts. And i didn't see any metal limbs on that guy in the commercial. So, that can't be him.--ThatBickeringIdiot 08:19, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
- There are metal limbs in every appearance of Combustion Man. Check the episodes again. Also, he has been confirmed dead, and will not be making a return. Finally, even if there was a possibility that he survived the explosion, he could not possibly survive the fall - it would be impossible with his chi blocked, making him unable to Firebend in any way and thus save himself. The 888th Avatar - Talk 08:25, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
I wasn't saying that he didn't have metal limbs. i'm saying he lost them in the explosion and the person in teh Brazilian commercial didn't appear to have metal limbs, so he's dead.--ThatBickeringIdiot 08:47, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
- Are we really arguing over what the creators confirmed? He's dead. That's all there is to it. --SuperFlash101 13:50, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Height?
Where did someone get 7'2?Thatother1dude 06:14, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- DVD commentary. Omnibender 13:09, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Sparky Sparky Boom Man
I have noticed that users and non-users have been trying to include Combustion Man's previous name "Sparky Sparky Boom Man" in the first paragraph in the article. Should we do that or not do that? AlexTalk 20:49, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- And that should go under notes or trivia. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 23:27, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, the Sparky Sparky Boom Man stuff should not be in the first paragraph. It could be in the History section of the article as well. 888th Avatar - Talk - Contributions 01:42, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Both? Trivia for what his name is, and history when he was called that. Joey - Talk Contribs 01:49, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
- I'd say, include it at the top, you know, "Combustion Man, formerly nicknamed Sparky-Sparky Boom Man, is a silent Fire Nation assassin..." I don't know if you know this, but that is one of the original intentions of the first paragraph, or "summary," if-you-will. --SuperFlash101 13:48, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] "The" Combustion Man?
I just fixed this but I want to make sure. Is there a "The" before his name? AlexTalk 22:53, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
- No, there isn't, you're right. Sokka accuses Zuko in the Western Air Temple: "YOU sent Combustion Man after us?" 888th Avatar - Talk - Contributions 03:35, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
