General information

Song lyrics, poetry, and singers

  • "Don't Fall In Love with the Traveling Girl"
  • "Leaves from the Vine"
  • "Love is In Your Heart"
Songs have great significance in the World of Avatar and are widely enjoyed. The most popular ones are folk songs: simple melodies that are easy to follow and appreciate.

"A Foggy Water Tribe Tune"

Performed by: Tho

Set my lines by the river bed
Caught ten fish and I killed 'em dead
Cut 'em and gut 'em and I tossed the heads
In the water to keep them cat-gators fed

Tho sang this song to pass the time and celebrate having caught Appa for dinner for the tribe.[1]

Sokka performing for the badgermoles

Sokka sang in an attempt to appease the badgermoles.

Performed by: Sokka and Chong

Badgermoles coming toward me,
Come on guys help me out ...
The big bad badgermoles, who earthbend the tunnels,
Hate the wolfbats, but love the sounds.

Sokka and Chong performed this tune to appease wild badgermoles.[2]

"The Chakras Song"

Performed by: Six-armed Guru Pathik

Chakras, chakras, everybody loves chakras
Chakras, chakras, chakra sandwich tastes good

Guru Pathik performed this song during one of Aang's hallucinations.[3]

"Don't Fall in Love with the Traveling Girl"

Performed by: Chong

Don't fall in love with the traveling girl,
She'll leave you broke, and broken hearted.
(The rest is unknown.)

Chong performed this song before he met Team Avatar.[2]

"Don't Let the Cave-in Get You Down, Sokka"

Performed by: Chong

Oh, don't let the cave-in get you down.
Don't let the falling rocks turn your smile into a frown.
When the tunnels are darkest that's when you need a clown, hey!
Don't let the cave-in get you down, Sokka!

Chong performed this song to brighten Sokka's mood, but was unsuccessful.[2]

"Fire Nation National Anthem"

Fire Nation anthem

Fire Nation Man recited the anthem at Earth Rumble VI.

Performed by: Fire Nation Man

Fire Lord
My flame burns for thee.
(The rest is unknown.)

This song was sung by Fire Nation Man before a fight against The Boulder at Earth Rumble VI. Although said to be the Fire Nation National Anthem, Fire Nation Man was not actually from the Fire Nation.[4]

"Four Seasons"

Performed by: Iroh

Winter, spring,
Summer and fall.
Winter, spring,
Summer and fall
Four seasons,
Four loves.
Four seasons,
For love.

Iroh performed this song during one of his music nights to keep his nephew's crew happy.[5] After the defeat of Phoenix King Ozai, the song was played once again by Iroh with his tsungi horn.[6]

"Girls from Ba Sing Se"

Performed by: Iroh

It's a long, long way to Ba Sing Se
But the girls in the city they look so pretty
And they kiss so sweet that you've really got to meet
The girls from Ba Sing Se!

Iroh sang this song to entertain a passerby and earn money.[1]

"Leaves from the Vine"

Lu Ten

Iroh sang the war ballad in memory of his deceased son, Lu Ten.

Performed by: Iroh

Leaves from the vine
Falling so slow
Like fragile, tiny shells
Drifting in the foam
Little soldier boy
Come marching home
Brave soldier boy
Comes marching home

"Leaves from the Vine" is a popular children's song, and similar to a lullaby in the Fire Nation's vernacular.[7] Iroh sang it in the marketplace of Ba Sing Se to help calm down a crying boy, and later sang it in remembrance of his deceased son, Lu Ten, on the latter's birthday.[8]

"Love is in Your Heart"

Performed by: Chong

Even if you're lost you can't,
Lose the love because it's in your heart.
La la la la la (in sync with melody)

Chong performed this tune while in the Cave of Two Lovers after he shared his idea of singing a love song to escape. It was again played after they found their way out of the cave.[2]

"Secret Tunnel"

Performed by: Chong and Moku

Two lovers, forbidden from one another
A war divides their people, and a mountain divides them apart.
Built a path to be together.
... (yeah I forget the next couple of lines but, uh, then it goes.)
Secret tunnel!
Secret tunnel!
Through the mountain!
Secret, secret, secret, secret tunnel! Yeah!

Chong performed this tune to tell the tale of the Cave of Two Lovers. Chong later remembered the forgotten part as "and die!".[2]
