The seaport village is a small coastal settlement located in the western Earth Kingdom. An important port on the Mo Ce Sea, the village was captured by the Fire Nation during the Hundred Year War. The Fire Nation Navy brought coal from inland to this village so that its warships could refuel before going out to sea again. A large prison rig was located several miles offshore.[1]
Sometime between 171 and 174 AG, Kuvira annexed the seaport village as part of her Earth Empire[2] though it reverted to the Earth Kingdom when she was arrested in 174 AG.[3]
History
Team Avatar briefly visited the seaport village during the autumn of 99 AG. After Katara was arrested for what Fire Nation guards believed was earthbending, she was brought by cart to a ship in this village. Aang and Sokka, disguised as village natives, watched her safely board the ship, on which she was taken to an offshore prison rig where earthbenders were held captive indefinitely.[1]
Following Earth Queen Hou-Ting's death and the fragmentation of the Earth Kingdom in 171 AG, this village became integrated into Kuvira's empire sometime during her three-year rule of the nation[2] and remained under her control until she was arrested in 174 AG following her failed attempt to annex the United Republic of Nations.[3]
Description
The seaport village is surrounded by tall, barren mountains on three sides and the Mo Ce Sea on the other. The village's harbor is U-shaped and has three wooden piers that jut into it. Only one of the piers can dock large ships; the other two to its right are far smaller, limiting their docking capacity to only small ships. A thin strip of beach separates the village from the harbor. Some sailors and natives leave their boats here instead of the piers as they enter the village. A boardwalk on the beach connects to one of the piers, allowing its enhanced ease of access.
The village is divided into two halves by a wide, straight avenue. On either side of the avenue are low-rise buildings made of wood. They have green rooftops that are bordered by thin yellow outlines. The rooftops are triangular and have no shingles. Some of the buildings are houses, while the others are market stands. The village's marketplace is quite lively and bustling with commerce.[1]
