History
Edit
Twelve years prior to Avatar Korra's arrival in Republic City, the mansion was broken into and robbed by the Agni Kai Triad. A member of the triad killed Hiroshi's wife during the break-in.[1]
After Amon's attack on the Pro-bending Arena forced Mako and Bolin to leave the attic they called home, they moved into the Sato family mansion after being invited by Asami. She did not directly ask her father if they could stay, but stated that she would clear it up with him later. The three, along with Pabu, were swimming in the mansion's pool when Korra arrived. The Avatar quickly left the estate after overhearing Hiroshi potentially planning an Equalist strike over the phone.
Korra returned to the mansion later with Tenzin and Chief Lin Beifong. Together, they questioned Hiroshi about the phone call he had made and pursued information on his potential Equalist ties. Hiroshi quickly dismissed the claim, stating that it was all a misunderstanding, and that he was merely talking business on the phone when Korra had overheard him. Hiroshi then gave Chief Beifong permission to search all of Future Industries' warehouses.
After the search of Future Industries yielded no evidence, Korra, Tenzin, and Lin received an anonymous tip, saying that Hiroshi had a secret factory underneath his home. Chief Beifong led the Metalbending Police Force to the Sato estate, and they eventually found the factory beneath the property. The anonymous tip turned out to be a set-up, however, and Hiroshi, along with the Equalists, ambushed Tenzin, Korra, Lin, and the rest of the police force, defeating them and knocking them unconscious. After a brief fight, Mako, Bolin, and Asami helped Tenzin, Korra, and Lin escape. The rest of the police force, however, were captured by the Equalists and taken to Amon who took away their bending later. After the discovery, Korra invited Mako, Bolin, and Asami to live on Air Temple Island.[1]

Added by Lady LostrisThe Sato estate is set up in various levels. The lowest level appears to have an archway and a small tower, the second one has another archway which sports a clock, and the third and final level contains the mansion itself. All three levels boast a solid chrome color. The Sato estate has a bathroom on the ground floor and a ladies' powder room on the first floor.
The interior of the mansion is elegantly decorated and very beautiful. There is a swimming pool with a large lion turtle statue next to it. There is also a racetrack located within the mansion's grounds. In addition to being used for sport, Satomobiles are tested there.
Behind the mansion is Hiroshi Sato's personal workshop. There is a hidden tunnel leading from the workshop deep underground to an Equalist factory, where Equalist weapons such as electrified gloves and mecha tanks were manufactured. The factory has a large, retractable platinum wall, and is unable to be bent via metalbending due to its purity.[1]
