Saber-tooth Moose-Lion

From Avatar Wiki, the Avatar: The Last Airbender database

A Saber-tooth Moose-lion.

The Saber-tooth Moose-lion is native to the forests of the Southern Earth Kingdom. Saber-tooth Moose-lions stand at least ten feet tall, with brown fur, long muzzles, and palm-shaped antlers on their heads. Its body and tail are feline in appearance, and its two enlarged upper fangs extend past its lower jaw. It also has large clawed paws. These animals are extremely good fighters because their long teeth, long horns and ferocious attitude make them a formidable opponent. Although they appear intimidating, for the most part saber-tooth moose-lions are friendly animals, that is, unless one stands in between a mother saber-tooth moose-lion and her cub, then these animals have been known to become quite violent.

A Cub brings food to Sokka.

Cubs are very small (no larger than a small dog) and are difficult to classify until their horns and fangs grow in, they're also very adorable, intelligent and friendly. They vaguely resemble a light brown hippo with a mid-short bushy tail. Without its giant teeth and horns grown in, they seem harmless. Sokka planned on catching one and eating it only to get caught in a ground fissure, the baby cub proceeds to play with Sokka and later brought an apple to Sokka, who attempted to converse with it, later naming it "Foo-Foo Cuddly Poofs".

Saber-tooth Moose-lions appear in "Bitter Work."

[edit] Connection

The saber-toothed moose-lion is a clear cut mix of a moose and the prehistoric saber-toothed cat. The moose is the largest member of the deer family. The saber-toothed cat is a member of the cat family that lived in the Americas from 3 million to 10,000 years ago.
