Roku's Waterbending teacher taught him Waterbending when he was a young Avatar from the Fire Nation.

Not much is known about this character. He was a Northern Water Tribe citizen and a Waterbending Master. As an older man he trained Avatar Roku in the art of Waterbending. At first Avatar Roku experienced difficulties with learning Waterbending, as it was the opposite element of Fire. Roku eventually mastered Waterbending under his tutelage, and beat his teacher in a duel. He created a giant wave, which he sent at his teacher. The wave rolled through the city, carrying the teacher with it, until it dissipated, leaving him washed up on a building in the center of town.
