The River Village is located in the Western Earth Kingdom, and situated between the forks of a large river. It serves as a regional trading hub and ideal location for merchants to sell their wares.

[edit] History

This town is where Zuko and Iroh travel to after abandoning the Fire Nation during Book 2. They are seen begging on the streets for spare coins from Earth Kingdom citizens. In one of these engagements, Iroh sings a silly song to a man who offers up a gold coin for some entertainment. He pulls out his dual swords on Iroh when he is not entertaining enough, and finally Iroh earns his pay by dancing (though his dance is mainly in order to avoid the sword blows aimed at his feet).

This is also where Zuko once again dons his identity as the Blue Spirit after stealing the man's dual swords later that night.

[edit] Layout and Description

The center of the village is dominated by an immense sandstone structure perched on a hill, while the outskirts are filled with simple bamboo and plaster homes with thatched roofs. The town is surrounded by large rice paddies, which draw their water from the nearby river; many inhabitants fish along it using small reed boats.

On the outskirts is densely forested area, including several caves, one of which Zuko and Iroh camp out in.
