A platypus bear is a large mammal found throughout the Earth Kingdom. It is quite vicious, and has been known to attack humans. Its fur is mostly brown with a shallow white "V" on its chest and a patch of lighter brown around its eyes. The creature has a large bill lined with jagged teeth and a beaver-like tail. Its front paws are padded with claws and it has large, webbed hind feet. The platypus bear is capable of standing upright and also lays eggs rather than giving birth to live young. A Platypus Bear can lay eggs rather quickly, especially when in fear. The Platypus Bear can also be trained and has been seen as both a circus animal and a brute enforcer.

[edit] Trivia
- A Platypus Bear is first seen in "The Fortuneteller".
- They were also mentioned in "Day of Black Sun" when Azula proved she was a good liar by saying she was a four hundred foot tall purple platypus bear with pink horns and silver wings.
- In Avatar Extras they have stated that the Platypus Bears faivorite food is the Se Tu fish.
- The platypus by itself has the looks of several animals. It has a bill like a duck and a tail like a beaver.
[edit] Connection
As its name implies, the platypus bear has straightforward connections to real life animals, sharing many characteristics with both namesakes. If the males have the poison barbs is unknown.
