Regardless of his name, Pipsqueak was the largest and strongest member of the Freedom Fighters. Like the fellow fighters, he has come to be orphaned by the Fire Nation. Though not the brightest, his brute strength and remarkable agility made him a valuable part of the group.

Often seen alongside The Duke, the duo originally appeared in the book one episode "Jet" as guerrillas assisting Jet in the fight against the Fire Nation occupation of the local village of Gaipan, expressing the peculiar habit of wielding a simple wooden log in combat. Despite his open admiration for Jet, both Pipsqueak and The Duke lost all faith in their leader after his plan to destroy Gaipan with a flood was foiled by Aang, Katara, and Sokka. Soon after, they parted ways with the Freedom Fighters and traveled through the Earth Kingdom, stealing to eat and struggling to survive. One night, the two came across Hakoda's ship and attempted to pilfer it, but were caught in the act and captured. After hearing their story, Sokka and Katara welcomed Pipsqueak and The Duke to join their makeshift invasion force.

He and The Duke are not seen again until the book three episode "The Awakening", where they had joined Sokka, Katara, and Toph in their plan to invade the Fire Nation on the day of a solar eclipse. However the duo does make an appearance in "The Bridge," a canonical interlude comic featured within the second All-Avatar Nick Mag Presents edition. They can briefly be seen playfully mopping up the ship in one scene and donning their Fire Nation outfits in another.

Pipsqueak and The Duke arrived with the rest of the invasion force on the Day of Black Sun. As usual, they made an effective fighting force during the battle. Unfortunately, the invasion failed and the group was forced to surrender, with only the younger members escaping on Appa with Aang's group. The Duke was among those to escape, but Pipsqueak stayed behind, so the two parted ways. Pipsqueak was sent to a prison near the Fire Nation Capital with the rest of the team.

Pipsqueak and the rest of the invasion force were freed after Fire Lord Ozai was defeated. He is seen at Zuko's coronation reunited with The Duke.
