Piandao's castle was an upscale, lavish estate located high on a cliff overlooking the town of Shu Jing. The castle boasted sixteen bedrooms, two gardens, a sword-making foundry, and stables. A white lotus motif was incorporated into the design of the castle; it was seen on the front gates and on the floor of the main courtyard. Other notable objects included lion turtle sculptures located in the rock garden.[1]

History Edit

Formerly the home of a Fire Nation nobleman, this castle sat unused and in disrepair for many years. Piandao cleaned, painted, and landscaped it all by himself, making sure all the elements were in harmony.[1] Here, Piandao set up his abode and lived a quiet, peaceful life. He occasionally received guests who wished to be taught the art of swordsmanship, providing him all their vast explanations as to why they deserved such a privilege; however he would almost always turn them away.[2]

Sometime during Piandao's stay at this castle, Fat was allowed entry as Piandao agreed to train him in exchange for his quality cooking. The two became close friends, with Piandao appointing Fat as the castle's new butler.[1]

Later, Piandao taught Prince Zuko[3] and Sokka[2] the way of the sword at his castle after they respectively proved themselves worthy. Under the swordsmaster's tutelage, Sokka learned many aspects of swordsmanship, including landscaping, painting, and dueling with Fat. During an exercise to manipulate his surroundings to his advantage, Sokka used Piandao's rock garden to make a chair in which he relaxed. After a fair amount of training, Sokka crafted a sword from a meteorite and used it to duel Piandao. Sokka lost the duel, but gained Piandao's respect.[2]
