The Mountain Prison is a large cave underneath the mountain near the village where Hama lives. Hama discovered this cave years ago. During full moons, she Bloodbended people and forced them to walk into the cave. Once captured, there was little hope of escape.

[edit] History

Prisoners in Mountain Prison

During "The Puppetmaster", Toph hears what she thinks is people screaming for help under the mountain near Hama's Inn, but the group dismissed the theory as unlikely. Later, while Katara and Hama go off to learn more about Waterbending one night, the group hears the screaming again, and this time, Toph tracks down the source to the Mountain Prison. There the prisoners told them that Hama was the culprit, making the group realize that Katara was in danger, as she was still with Hama. Toph stayed behind to free the captives while Aang and Sokka went to save Katara.

The prisoners returned the group's favor by arresting Hama. Unfortunately, she had already forced Katara to learn her insidious techniques of Bloodbending before the arrest was made.
