Miyuki was a white, fluffy cat, with long, thick, white fur and extremely light green, almost gray eyes. She was the beloved pet of the herbalist. Although most of the animals in the Avatar World are combinations of two animals, Miyuki appears to be just a normal cat.

History Edit

Aang met the herbalist while searching for medicinal herbs to cure Katara and Sokka. When she finished preparing the mixture she was working on, Aang tried to grab it to bring back to his sick friends, but was slapped on the fingers by the herbalist. The mixture appeared to be Miyuki's dinner.[3] This special diet of herbs had kept Miyuki alive for over twenty-eight years, ninety-seven in cat years, and she was still going strong.[2]

Miyuki was seen again when the bounty hunter, June, and her shirshu, Nyla, picked up Katara's trail near the establishment, in which the herbalist asked Miyuki whether she had, "gotten in trouble with the Fire Nation again".[1] Miyuki appeared to love plum blossoms, as according to the herbalist, they were a fundamental part of her dinner.[3]

Trivia Edit

  • Miyuki is a traditional Japanese girl's name. Though it can be written using different kanji, the cat's white fur would indicate the most appropriate to be 美雪, meaning "beautiful snow" in Japanese.
  • Miyuki was named after Miyuki Hoshikawa, a storyboard artist who loved cats.[4]
