Hey! I'm still a little new to how the messaging system works here, but I wanted to talk to you about your "Those Trolling Theories" blog. (I left a comment there, but I don't think those produce messages?)
I think that a fanon article should be written (mainly about Amon's possible identities) and your blog was one of three that have caught my eye. The other two are here:
Klalum has agreed to help, and I was wondering if you would like to contribute, and allow us to use some of the content gathered on your blog? We can spitball ideas beforehand, and decide what elements of each we want to incorporate.
Okay. Let's start here. (I hope you don't mind my using your page as a idea board for the project?)
Here is an example of what our article might look like. Fanon: Theories People can add their opinions as Support or Oppose.
However, I would like to have, at the beginning, a short list of theories, with only one or two sentences. Then, further down, a more detailed paragraph like some of the ones you three, especially TheLastFireBender have. That way, people can peruse them easily, and if one catches their interest, they can see the elaboration and debate.
I don't think we should explicitly separate the "more likely" or "less likely" ones by heading, as that could be asking for trouble. We'll no doubt unconsciously order them in rough terms of probability, anyway.
I think both your and TheLastFireBender's formats are good, in that they either use bolding or headings for each theories. This reduces eye strain. But, I like that Klalum has included crediting users for theories. While I don't think it's necessary to go and ferret out all ths sources from which you and TLFB got yours from, it would be nice to include any links to the ones that do exist, and maybe any that you could think of readily.
One more thing we should consider: do we want to restrict this to only theories pertaining to Amon's identity, to keep it focused and tight, or do we want to open it to all speculation, and figure out where to include them? (prominently, the question of whether he can energybend has been kicking around the 'net quite a lot.)
I like the idea and format a lot, but I'm not sure about crediting the users. For most theories, there were many users who came up with it, so do we credit the first user to come up with the idea, or just choose a random one that has come up with the idea since? On my page, I wrote my 'Amon is Bumi' theory because so many people had the idea and there are so many reasons why it couldn't work (from my point of view, anyway), not because one particular user caught my eye. Perhaps we can go back to the first comment pages of certain characters and see which user actually came up with the idea.
One more thing: I would suggest that you don't start building the page until the next episode has come out, as Amon seems to feature heavily in it, and there may be some more character revelations.
Overall, it sounds like a great idea, and I'm happy to help in any way I can :).
I'm not sure I quite understand. Is the fannon theories site what our article is going to look like? Personally I would want it to be similar to my blogs format just with more theories. Like puma and tophs daughter. Also when i first made my blog I started it as an article. But it was shortly removed and turned into a blog. If the admins dont like the idea of THEORIES as an article Im not sure we can do this thing.
Do you guys think yesterday's episode gave any insight as to who Amon is? I didn't gather anything like clues, unfortunately. The flashbacks were so vague and quick. -_-'
"On my page, I wrote my 'Amon is Bumi' theory because so many people had the idea and there are so many reasons why it couldn't work (from my point of view, anyway), not because one particular user caught my eye. FooFoo, this is okay. Some theories are so widespread that it'd be impossible to credit them. I'm just saying if you have or see a unique one, that you've only seen in one place, it might be nice to have a credit. (even links to Anon users' perhaps? if they ever create accounts) You get the idea.
TLFB, I'm discussing the issue with Vulmen (you should get a confirmation message, as you posted on his wall). There is a "main" page of the Wiki, that only deals in canon, and a fanon portion that lists fanon. If you look at the example I posted, it is in the fanon part of the site. Yours got moved to your blog because it was in the canon portion. There should be no reason we can't do this.
"Like puma and tophs daughter."
You mean Pema? (LOL, she's the polar opposite of a "cougar," so that's hilarious!) After we're done with Amon we could make separate articles for them. That way, people could easily find each one, instead of having to scroll through one mass of text. (and trust me, Amon is going to be massive, and probably grow, too.) The reason I'm proposing the "Support/Oppose" feature, is so we don't have a bunch of people trying to change the actual content of the article, and have edit wars break out. I think we should correct spelling and grammar mistakes, but let everything else stand.
I think your article's format is fine. I'd just like to add a short list at the beginning (or perhaps include characters' names in titles, so they appear in the Summary Box?) for quick browsing and accesibility, like a Table of Contents but with brief descriptions.
It's worth noting that the creators have said Ty Lee is not directly involved in the formation of The Equalists.
Another thing I have to point out about your article is that many people think Amon is lying about his backstory. Until we have confirmation that he is burned, I think it's up in the air. This is also partially speculation: "Also, one should note that he does not want to hurt benders but only remove their bending, Korra being the only exception as he clearly stated he would "destroy [her]" We don't know whether Amon eventually intends to kill some benders. If what he is doing is literally a gift from the Spirits, it would be just about impossible for him to go through every bender in the world one at a time. If what he is doing is actually only advanced chi blocking, and can be taught to others, then it would be more feasible.
Thank you for participating in The Legend of Korra Review Contest. Unfortunately there were not enough people to move on to the second phase of the competition, so no winner will be selected. You, on the other hand, will be receiving a participant userbox. Please type in {{User:MateyY/LoK Review Participant}}, and the template will appear on your page.
