• The Last Airbender Trailer will be premiered exclusively on Entertainment Tonight on Monday 22 June, 2009.
• USA Today has published the first two photos of Noah Ringer as Aang and Dev Patel as Prince Zuko in M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender.
• Further casting has been made. Zhao will be played by Aasif Mandvi, Iroh will be played by Shaun Toub, Ozai will be played by Cliff Curtis, Yue will be played by Seychelle Gabriel and Kanna will be played by Katharine Houghton.
• Controversy has broken out in the Avatar fan community over casting choices for the film The Last Airbender. Many are angered by the casting choices for the leads and distancing of the film from its Asian influences, citing racism against Asians as the primary reason. A letter-writing campaign, calling itself Aang Ain't White, has begun.
• Jessica Jade Andres has been cast as Suki in The Last Airbender.

Suki is the eldest of the young female Kyoshi Warriors of the Earth Kingdom's Kyoshi Island. Having begun her training when she was only 8 years old, Suki is well respected by her fellow warriors and is their leader. When the Avatar and his friends arrive at Kyoshi Island, Suki and a few other Kyoshi Warriors captured them, later releasing and befriending them, forming a particular bond with Sokka.

Inspired by the outsiders for helping save their village from Prince Zuko, Suki and the other Kyoshi Warriors left the island to help the Earth Kingdom fight against the Fire Nation. Suki protects the Avatar's lost sky-bison Appa from falling into the enemy's hands, but she and the other Kyoshi warriors are defeated by Princess Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee.

Imprisoned in the Fire Nation, Suki is placed within a high-security prison called the Boiling Rock. It is only by good fortune that Sokka infiltrates the prison looking for his captured father, Hakoda, instead finding Suki. Freed from captivity, Suki helps Aang and friends defeat the Fire Nation and reunites with her fellow Kyoshi Warriors. (Read more...)

This image is Aang just before he wakes up from a century frozen, after being freed by Katara. Aang accidentally froze himself after running away from the Southern Air Temple, because he discovered that he'd be taken to the Eastern Air Temple, in order to complete his Airbending training away from Monk Gyatso. Unwilling to let that happen, Aang ran away on Appa, ending up in storm. When both Aang an Appa are taken down by a wave and start to sink, the Avatar Spirit intervenes, freezing them. During Aang's century long absence, the Fire Nation wiped out the Air Nomads with the power of Sozin's Comet, beginning an imperialistic war.
