|"No impression is a good impression."|
|— The lowly guard on career advancement.|
The lowly guard was a gondola guard until about a week before Sokka and Zuko's arrival at the Boiling Rock. After being promoted, he was at the bottom of the prison guard hierarchy and desperately tried to perform his job correctly in order to make a good impression on others.
After Chit Sang attempted to escape from the Boiling Rock, this guard was summoned by the warden to a lineup, where it would be determined by Chit Sang if he or one of the other guards were responsible for helping the prisoner escape. He stood at the far left of the line, beside Sokka, who he shoved away when the latter attempted to hide behind his back.
