The leechi nut is a type of reddish-brown fruit that can be used to make tea or juice. The leechi nut is known to grow in both the Earth Kingdom and the Fire Nation and is often used as bait for Fire Nation traps to catch small animals.
The leechi nut is also a fruit in the real world, more commonly known by their proper name, "lychee", and is native to southern China. It is a nut only in name, as it has a blunt, spiky rind covering the outside, making it more similar to a berry of some kind. It contains inedible seeds separated by white, delicate grape-like pulp. It is unclear whether or not the leechi nut in the World of Avatar is in fact a nut, or a berry like their real-world counterparts.
- Katara makes mention of leechi nuts in Love Potion #8, suggesting that breakfast for the day may be "lychee nut surprise".
