|"You expect me to abandon my entire life? My family? No! No sir, I'm not going anywhere with you and I think it's best that you leave!"|
|— Kuon to Tenzin.|
After Kuon developed airbending abilities, he became the talk of his village. He and his village were soon visited by the members of Team Avatar, who met for a dinner with Kuon's family. Despite his new ability and status, Kuon thought of himself as nothing more than a simple farmer who could airbend. During dinner, he mistakenly bent a pie into Bolin's face, though the earthbender did not mind, as he and Pabu enjoyed the dessert.
When Tenzin told Kuon that he represented a new beginning for the Air Nation and that he would be needing his help, the new airbender became confused, saying he needed to rebuild his farm and maintain his family. The airbending master, however, pushed his case, demanding Kuon come along, while Korra said that he needed to learn about his new culture. Kuon called the whole situation a misunderstanding and remained steadfast in his refusal, saying he was neither an Air Nomad nor a monk. After Tenzin made one final push to get him to learn the airbenders' culture and the art's skills, Kuon declared that he was not leaving his life or family and demanded that his visitors leave.
