A game of Kuai ball in action

Kuai Ball is a Fire Nation sport similar to volleyball, usually played on the beach and very popular with the vacationers on Ember Island. The court for a Kuai ball game consists of a circular playing area divided by a net. The object of the game it to hurl the ball over the net using ones hands or feet, with points being scored by having the ball hit the ground on the opposing team's side of the net. The game ends when one team reaches 10 points. As playing Kuai Ball requires a great deal of dexterity and skill, games featuring more acrobatic players are truly amazing to watch. Azula, Ty Lee, Zuko and Mai were seen playing Kuai Ball at The Beach.

It is played similarly to volleyball, except that one can touch the net (as seen as Ty Lee landing on the net) and the use of one's feet is allowed. This game seems to give an advantage to Firebenders and true acrobats, as it requires moving the legs and hands quickly, in a similar fashion to Firebending.

[edit] Trivia

  • "Kuai"(快)means "fast" in Chinese.
  • In the commentaries, the creators stated they later learned from an production artist that there was a Korean sport that was either similar to, or exactly like Kuai Ball, after the fact.
