Johane Matte, born 1971^[1] in Amos, Quebec, Canada,^[2] is a comic book artist and writer who worked on many projects related to Avatar: The Last Airbender, including the Relics comic. She attended Algonquin College from 1989 to 1991^[2] and enrolled in Graphic Design during her first year, but switched to Television Animation when the college announced it was offering that course in the following year.^[3] She learned more about television animation over the years, working in different studios with very talented colleagues.

She is currently residing in Burbank, California^[4] and is employed with DreamWorks Animation as a storyboard artist^[2] on the Rise of the Guardians film, scheduled to be released in November 21, 2012.
