Lieutenant Jee was one of the senior officers aboard Zuko's ship. He is also a capable Firebender and a talented singer and pipa player. While he had been on Zuko's ship since before the beginning of the series, and had been seen sparring against Zuko in "The Waterbending Scroll", he is only introduced as a character in "The Storm".
[edit] History
In "The Storm", he overhears Iroh and Zuko arguing about a coming storm. He walks in on them just as Zuko is telling Iroh that the safety of the crew doesn't matter. When he sees Jee, he states that finding the Avatar is more important, leaving Jee looking angry, with Iroh trying to reassure him.
Later, Zuko's ship arrives at the edge of the gathering storm clouds. As some of the crew, including Jee are looking over the edge of the ship, Zuko walks on the deck. Jee makes an angry comment about Iroh being right, which prompts Zuko to reprimand him. Jee's emotions finally burst out and he yells at Zuko for being disrespectful to his crew and uncle, and he calls Zuko a spoiled prince. Zuko turns around and takes a fighting stance. Jee mirrors him and the two of them move close in to each other, until Iroh breaks them up. Jee goes below deck, looking sullen.
Jee talks with some other members of the crew over dinner, about how he is sick of chasing the Avatar and taking Zuko's orders. Iroh appears, and asks to join them. He tells Jee and the rest of the crew about Zuko's history, how he was burned and banished by his father. This leaves Jee with more understanding of Zuko.
Later, while traveling through the storm, Zuko's ship is hit by a bolt of lightning. Jee and the crew rush out to survey the damage, and Zuko joins them moments later. They see that the command tower has been hit, and the helmsman is in danger. Zuko and Jee climb up a ladder and each risk their lives to save him. This event causes Jee to be more loyal and responsive to Zuko, while Zuko seems to listen and care for his crew more.
In "The Waterbending Master", Jee and the rest of the crew are impressed into service by Zhao, for the Admiral's invasion of the North Pole. His fate after this is unknown; it remains possible that he perished when Aang merged with the Ocean Spirit and destroyed Zhao's entire fleet.
[edit] Trivia
- Jee's voice actor, Jim Meskimen also voiced General How and Avatar Kuruk.
- In "The Storm" when Iroh told some of the crew how Zuko got his scar, Jee said that he always assumed he got it in a training accident.
