Huu is a Waterbending master from the Foggy Swamp Tribe, located in the Earth Kingdom. Huu is able to bend the water inside plants and vines.
Huu acts as the guardian of the swamp and protects it from anyone who would want to harm it. He reached enlightenment while sitting under the great banion grove tree in the middle of the swamp. Clearly the wisest member of the tribe, Huu believes that all living things are connected to one another. Having become so connected to the swamp, Huu has made it his duty to protect it at all costs, a task he seems proficient at, scaring off people who happen to wander into it.

When Aang and his companions visit the swamp in "The Swamp", Huu shows Aang how everything in the swamp is connected and helps Aang to find Appa and Momo.
Huu reappears in "The Day of Black Sun, Part 1: The Invasion." At the beginning of the invasion, Huu was nowhere to be seen. He later appears surrounded in sea weed, like the monster from "The Swamp." Tho, Due, and Huu helped with the initial land stage of the invasion, but remained behind when they started scaling the volcano. When the eclipse ended, the Fire Nation revealed its airships. The airships proceeded to the beach to destroy the submarines. The three were last seen at the beaches protecting in vain the subs from being destroyed. A bomb blew them down, but they survived. Huu was most likely in a Fire Nation prison with all the other warriors. But they were released once the War ended.

Huu uses Waterbending to bend the moisture inside the vines in the swamp. He has mastered this technique to the point that it appears he is actually bending the vine itself. Covering his body with these vines, Huu pretends to be a large swamp monster. As the swamp monster, Huu scares away anyone who may harm the swamp, but any friend of the swamp is a friend of Huu.
During The Day of Black Sun, Part 1: The Invasion, due to a lack of vines Huu instead covered himself in seaweed. His "plant suit" is strong enough that Huu could easily throw around and smash Fire Nation Tanks with it.

- The manner of how Huu gained enlightenment by sitting under the great banion grove tree may be a reference to Siddhartha Gautama and how he sat under a Bodhi tree to achieve enlightenment and became the Buddha.
- Huu is a Vietnamese name meaning "much" or "a lot".
