The Serpent's Pass

Hope is the newborn daughter of Than and Ying. Ying was pregnant with her when she and her husband left their town for the safety of Ba Sing Se, and went into labor just outside the outer wall of the city. When Hope was born, the love and togetherness exhibited by her parents inspired Aang to feel again as he was currently trying to bury his feelings. It was for this reason that Ying gave Hope her unique name.

As Hope is a newborn child, her personality has really yet to be developed; though Iroh and Katara have commented on how "beautiful" she is.

Hope is seen at the beginning of Book 3, crying as the Fire Nation invades Ba Sing Se. Some say that Hope cries when there is not very much of her name left. Not much is known about Hope and her family after The War, although it is assumed that they are living in Ba Sing Se peacefully.
