Hog Monkey

From Avatar Wiki, the Avatar: The Last Airbender database

A Hog Monkey

The Hog Monkey has a vaguely canine face, a long tail and the body of a monkey. It has reddish eyes and a dog like snout that is full of sharp teeth including two tusks coming from its lower jaw. Its fur is brown over most of its body, except around its face and head area which is a very dark brown. Although the Hog Monkey does not really resemble a pig in any way, its noises are swinish in nature. Their bark is worse than their bite, but as Aang has learned, they are still not easy to tame and ride. They can, however, usually be coerced with leechi nuts. Hog Monkeys tend to be troublesome animals and mess around with human things.

Hog Monkeys causing trouble

In The "Avatar: The Last Airbender" game for Nintendo Gamecube, Hog Monkeys roam in troops around a small fishing village, and are blamed for disappearances of food from the village.

[edit] Biology

The hog monkey is most likely a tree hunting creature, hunting small game. It's tusks could be for display, or for use to kill larger prey. Due to it's dog-like snout, It probably senses it's prey by scent.

Hog Monkeys are first seen in "Jet", caught in a Fire Nation trap.

[edit] Connection

The Hog Monkey has attributes of dogs, monkeys, and pigs.
